What happeded to the Continental Tire GS Series?

So I set my DVR expecting a great race today on FS1 from the Canadian Motorsport Park and I find out that there are only 4 entries in the Continental Tire GS class. What the hell happened in the last couple of years to reduce this once competitive class to now, a non event class? The ST class is great if you own a ricer or a Porsche, but the GS class with the Mustangs was the one I used to enjoy watching. Anyone have an details, and if this is the trend, is IMSA going to eliminate this class all together?

Bummer, I guess all the rule changes to create a more competitive class finally killed the series.

Is this the same class that the Boss 302 began to dominate, (back in 2012), and then was hit with a mid-season rule change that resulted in TB restrictors and overheating issues?

Thanks,
