Guys
In my quest to have a "boss" Mustang like your great cars I have done some more mods this weekend with a couple interpetive touches of my own to pay homage to Boss and Ford racing history. I present my BAUS 302 ;)

As you can see I did the oil cooler, the brake ducts and the trans cooler as well as some accents to the Boss grille and my rear cam spoiler. The Red is Wood Brothers Racing/Motorcraft Red Sherwin Williams color code B7-68125 as a tribute to Trevor Bayne's awesome victory and the all the great accomplishments the Wood Bros. have achieved for Ford since 1950. Hope you like and if you don't that's OK too.
Steve

Hey Steve that looks great. You've been a busy boy. Seriously, you should consider matching red mirror caps and rear spoiler. So how does it run with the new intake and who did the tune for you?

Nice work. We have a few Bullitthead members over at IMBOC.com who did their own modern Bullitt tribute cars as well.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Car runs great, Brenspeed did a 93 Street tune for me, haven't got a chance to dyno it yet with the Steeda Cai and stock manifold it made 397 rwhp at 6600 rpm, I expect to make maybe 7-9 more peak but carry it up to 7379 which is what I have the rev limiter set at. Today was my first day on the road with it and I had the family in the car so no test runs with my Gtech Fanatic RR yet.

Steve, that is very nice, and thanks to you, I'm gonna order those wheels for my white boss.
Please post more pics of your car from different angels.

Steve that looks fantastic! I really like this car with the white/black. Did you have any issues getting the cooling hoses over the brake ducts where they attach by the rotor?

Wahoo! My salesmen called me on Saturday morning and the LS showed up! Currently my wife and me are on a short vacation so I won't get to see it until Wednesday but at least I know where it is. ;D

Congrats Dean! That's great news, if you pick it up on Wednesday, that gives you plenty of time to get to Mid America Motorplex for a track day on Saturday! See ya there ;D

Thanks guys! Here is the only picture I have so far. The salesman sent it from his phone so it looks pretty bad plus he said it was filthy from its cross counrtry journeys.

Gary - I would love to run MAM again but it's not going to happen this year. I think my track days are going to be limited to local events until I can save enough money to buy another trailer. :-\ Have fun and make sure you post a full report!

I had the same issue with the hose to backing plate that you did, I clipped the wires and left them in the hose and was able to force over the bulge. The I clamped over the wire ends, seems tight but they could've just made the bell about 1/8" smaller diameter and would have slipped right on. I also did not trim the fog light opening at the washer bottle but was able tosqueeze the hose up and around then through the fascia. Remove splash sheild on drivers side frame rail and had to trim the drivers side wheel house a little to get it to sit tight to the apron. All in all it was a decent job and from the test report in Motor Trend at Laguna fade is an issue on track after some laps, cooling will help. I also flushed out brakes with ATE 200 amber this morning and gave them an old fashioned 2 man pump and bleed, my assistant was my 12 year old daughter who has Porsche brake experience so she is well qualified :D

I have a DE eventat Lime Rock Park on 4/18 so I think I have the car in order, haven't decided on brake pads though, what are you running?
Steve

Steve I have been running DTC 70 front and DTC 60 rear on my GT500 the last two years. I put them on the Boss today and seasoned my new rings on the DBAs. They really stop the car, but in turn wear rotors. I think ArizonaGT runs DTC60 fronts and HT-10 rears? Maybe he'll chime in here. Others have posted PFC01s.

I flushed with ATE Super Blue. I normally use Brembo LCF600 but wanted something a different color than the factory to flush initially. What is ATE Amber compared to Super Blue?

Gary ATE 200 Amber is the same as the super blue just without the dye, I alternate the blue and amber when flushing my 911, just didn't have a liter of blue in the garage yesterday. Thanks for the tip of brake pads, I want to do the DBA rotors but heard they aren't durable for track use, I guess they are as you sound experienced. Where do your source your stuff and how much weight do they save over stock. I'm a big fan of reducing unsprung weight.

Oh ok thanks. I already have a few bottles of Brembo so I'll probably flush with that next time. I got the DBAs from Van at revanracing.com He will give you the option of cryo-treating them as well. It adds a week or two since he ships to the treatment facility, then they come to you. I didn't have the first set cryo treated and they lasted all last season (15 track days) plus about 10k street miles, but were heat checked pretty extensively. The replacement set I ordered I had cryo treated. I'm not sure how many days were left on the last non-cryo treated set, but I decided to replace them to start fresh with the Boss and am changing rotors AND pads for track days to keep them separately matched. Since I haven't run them with the cryo treatment, I can't say how much longer they last. The front DBA 5000s weigh 20lbs and the stockers are 28lbs so 8lbs a wheel on the fronts. The rears are one-piece DBA 4000 and weigh the same as stock at 13lbs I believe.

Here are some pics of the surgery required for the brake cooling kit:

There's one more piece of plastic that we decided to remove. The driver's side duct is a little snug and couldn't be moved as far away from the tire as the passenger side. This piece of plastic is held in by three plastic push pins but it blocks the hose from being moved adequately inboard to prevent rubbing on the tire on chock to chock turns. We removed it and retied the hose with zip ties.

It's the black plastic just left of the brake line:

Here's a pic of it removed and repositioned. I didn't take one after zip tying, but I have two on the sway bar and one on the frame "cutout" just left of where you can see in this photo. You can see part of it at the left edge of the above "before" photo:

Here's the piece removed:

Does the tire still rub going lock to lock?

Correct. All of those are proven combos, though. PFC01s are usually paired with PFC97s rear and should be roughly equivalent to DTC70/60 combo. We run DTC60s/HT10s because they stop just as well with less intrusion from the ABS. ATE SuperBlue or Gold. Giddy up.

I bed the 70/60s in last night and man did they stop the car. No ABS even on street tires. Should be no problem running this combo on track, but I'll know for sure this weekend.
