WTB 11-14 GT Right front knuckle

Not the first time I have heard of this happening. Usually has happened on the S197 knuckles when the strut to spindle bolt comes loose and the forces on the knuckle become non-perpendicular between. Most often caused by folks who use "crash bolts" to get the camber corrected, as those bolts are torqued much lower than the factory fastener and prone to loosening. Ford also revised the bolts to a fine-thread on the mid-2009/2010 and up S197 which allowed for even higher torque specs to prevent loosening (166 ft*lbs).

Glad you are safe and didn't loose control! Others have not been so lucky when this happens.

I will post some soon. The knuckle broke when I hit a big pothole. It broke in half exactly half way between the two strut bolts. This effectively allowed the wheel to basically fall outward as if I had 20 degrees of positive camber. I need to get the car back to my house to take it apart and post pictures.

Yup, that sounds right about where the others have seen the breakage.

Here are some links that I have saved about the incidents reported:

Had to use the wayback machine for the sccaforums thread since they overhauled their site (unfortunately the first part of the thread isn't there). I think that was the thread where "Kyle" posted pictures of his Shelby smacked up against a concrete divider and the tire laying flat and the knuckle mangled.

I still think the general consensus was that these failures were widely due to loosened bolts and/or the thinner shafts when using "crash bolts". The loosening concern seems verified by the revised fine-pitch threaded bolts Ford introduced on the circa 2009 Mustang.

I have since switched to the newer fine-thread bolts on my 2007 Mustang as a precaution, and witness marked the bolts so I can see at a glance if they have come loose between track sessions.

I've got a pair of these if you need (rather not split 'em up). They may even have hubs on them. Shoot me a PM and we can figure the rest out...

My bolts were still tight and right where I marked them. The thing that broke it was smacking a pothole bigger than a basketball and high speed. Anyway, ordered another one and will post pics of the broken one when I replace it.
