I suspect that Bosses didn't get the same part because the 1/2" drop up front...or for blockage to the trans cooling scoop.

Found it! Looks like the side-exit exhaust is legal. Here is the reasoning for the request:

To avoid damage in rear collision (as seen in previous events/competitions) and allow team to obtain minimum weight.
