How much weight do you think you could pull out of the car getting rid of all the factory sound deadening. Besides whatever is behind the dash I would t go to that level but floor trunk carpets does I could do. Any ideas what these new 550 and 650 mustangs have in them ?

The carpets and the underlay for them are relatively heavy, I think 40-45 lbs or so? There's all the sound deadening under them on the floor and inside walls of the interior, it is a beyotch to scrape off and I gave up on it. It's laid on in patches consisting of bands of the goo. It is like super dense stiff tar and you need a torch to soften it to scrape it off. It likes to catch fire too, have some water/fire extinguishers handy if you go that route. Not sure on how much it would weigh but I'd be surprised if it was more than 10-15 lbs. There's also lots of that super thick goo sprayed on under the car and in the wheel wells, I just left it alone.
You can pull all the interior panels fairly easily, they mostly just snap in and out. They are fairly flimsy plastic and there's not a lot of weight there. I didn't go after the headliner so no idea what it weighs and what else is up there.
I doubt if I got 100 lbs total out of it, maybe 80 and even that might be a high guess and the carpet and underlay is probably most of the weight.
This is why race cars are built from a body in white. I seriously considered buying a BIW and transferring all the parts over, but when I scoped out the work in doing that I gave it up, just way beyond what an old guy with a basic home garage can do if you still want to have a life outside of the car.

If it were me, I'd wear gloves.

Thanks Bill I’m looking at a mach 1 but live the raw feel of the early z06 corvettes that basically had no sound deadening and were only 3080 lbs
