S197 A Canadian Mustang in Texas

2 months later and I'm almost finished (with this phase at least). I finally found and squashed all the electrical gremlins and am just doing some final tuning, cleanup and wire routing. This was a lot harder than I expected but still managed to get everything in and working correctly. I got...

S197 A Canadian Mustang in Texas

Supercharger install is finally in progress. I spent about six hours today pulling out the old intake and all the hoses and wires. Tomorrow, it starts going back together. So far the worst parts: - The secret hidden stud on the back of the passenger side head that holds the hard lines for the...

S197 A Canadian Mustang in Texas

Good news! It looks like the thermostat was the culprit:This is from last weekend. It's not quite as cool as stock strangely but the day was really hot and I had a lot more on-track and some of that was on a short track with limited straightaways. It was a weird day - lots of dust on the track...

S197 A Canadian Mustang in Texas

I implemented a bunch of upgrades during the hot summer months:Fixed my fuel sender issue by replacing the fuel sending unit with a brand new (not reman) module. It fixed the fuel level problem and fuel pressure is actually higher even though the pump is rated for lower GPH. New bigger...

    S197 3V Upgrading 2006 GT to EPAS

I went with a 2012 EPAS with the WireEverything harness and it's been a worthwhile upgrade. It's hard to describe the differences but you can definitely notice the improvement. I'd strongly recommend anyone who does this on an early S197 upgrade the alternator at the same time.

S197 A Canadian Mustang in Texas

Haven't yet but I got all the pieces. It's all sitting on the bench, laid out, waiting for me to start. It took a while to all come in - I think I got the last piece in Feb and then between changing jobs, travel and a new grandkid, it's been sidelined. I'm going out again in June and after that...

S197 A Canadian Mustang in Texas

Took it out this Saturday and had a pretty good day on track. Consistency is improving and I really like the way the new steering rack feels - it's a lot more sensitive and I can feel camber in places on the track I couldn't feel before. I didn't get my rollbar installed yet (maybe this weekend)...

Brake Pad/Rotor Upgrade for track days

Do you get them cryo'd from your vendor or do you get that done yourself? I tried googling it but haven't found where one would get rotors processed. How long does the SRF last? I've been running DOT4 and changing it often and thought SRF was the same just more "pro level" high temperature stuff.

S197 A Canadian Mustang in Texas

Got a 2013 EPAS steering rack installed using the harness from Racecar Services. After alignment the car feels lighter and the steering feels quicker and more precise. For anyone else doing this, here's the part list: 2013+ EPAS steering rack (M-3200-EPAS is the 302-R steering rack, but I...

S197 A Canadian Mustang in Texas

Whelp, I think I figured out why I was getting such good fuel economy. My fuel pump gave out after my second run on Saturday almost stranding me on track. I managed to limp halfway to the paddock. Weirdly no codes were thrown but the car was bucking like it ran out of gas. A local shop helped me...

S197 A Canadian Mustang in Texas

Last week I got out to ECR for the afternoon to see if the new fenders made any difference. While my times and speeds were just okay, I did notice some benefits to the changes: 1. On the big straightaway, I used to get a bit of front end lift. This is now all gone. I wouldn't call it downforce...

    4.6 3 Valve Build

Have you done anything to the engine so far? I know some people who have had great experiences with Livernois and they are in your neck of the woods.

    Larger Rear Brake Rotors?

I put the same set on mine and they were fine for remanufactured and they do fit on gt500 brackets. Just understand the warranty is terrible on them - it applies to both calipers so you need to send both in to get a replacement. If you are having problems with your rear brake seals though...
