There is room for improvement, but I'm happy with my time considering this is my first time doing full-pace laps on any road course. Minimizing coasting seems to be what I need to focus on next.
A little update from this winter's shenanigans. As stated above, my main goal was to install an oil cooler for the anticipated track days and Time Trials that I want to do this year. I went with a Setrab 934 heat exchanger, Setrab thermostatic sandwich plate, spacer (for gauge sensors), and...
Looks good! Excuse my ignorance, but is that toe-in or toe-out? Those alignment specs look the same as what I have but the alignment is toe-out.Also congrats on the house. I'm about to close on my first.
My buddy went from RT660s to CR-Ss on his C6Z and experienced the same thing. They worked great on track and worked well on the last autocross run, but took forever to get to temp. He would spend his first few autocross runs warming the tires and have to pray for a hero run at the end.
I don't know if this is much of an update, but here is a pic of the sandwich plate with the filter removed. It looks like the bypass is opening but the oil's path of least resistance is still through the exchanger. I have reached out to Setrab and they agreed that the temperature seems lower...
Are you using the cast or billet part? The billet model is only sized for AN10 fittings. I called Setrab to confirm this, and the guy I talked to explained that the cast version is needed since the fittings are spaced further apart. Here is a link to the one that I got...
The temperature sender is in a separate adaptor plate that is before the sandwich plate. Below is a link to a similar setup that uses a spacer and sandwich plate like mine...
You are on the right track, for the most part.Yes, engine oil has a higher thermal capacity and will take more energy to heat up than the engine coolant. Another reason would be because the coolant is designed to cool around the cylinders from the heat produced during combustion and the engine...
I installed an oil cooler with temperature and pressure gauges over the winter in anticipation of more track days this year. Everything worked great on my first couple of tests, but I'm now worried about it getting up to temp on cold mornings. I've seen plenty of discussion about maximum oil...
It's been a while since I've updated this. One winter project is adding an oil cooler to the car since I'd like to start competing in Time Trial events. As I'm piecing everything together I'm realizing that most of the older posts regarding oil coolers revolve around -10AN hose, but the newer...
Just realized that I never updated this. The plastic cover on the reclining pivot points rubs when the seat is all the way back, but that doesn't bother me at all. All is good!
Another event down! This was my second time with the Steel Cities Region SCCA outside Pittsburgh. There are many skilled drivers there. The course had a tight start, deceptively tight slalom, a few smooth turns, pretty normal slalom, and a fast finish. I thought that I did pretty well leaving...
Late update, but all that work was wrapped up that Wednesday night with plenty of time to get it to the alignment shop that Friday. I decided to take my control arms to work and have one of those guys help me get the old bushings out, and I'm so glad that they did. Every comment that I read said...
That course looked tricky to remember and difficult to maneuver, which is what I typically like! The events around me have been relatively short courses lately. Also, I'm jealous of the headers and h-pipe sound! It's hard to judge autocross runs unless the person giving feedback was at the event...
