AUTO-BLiP

Hello TMO members and racing fans in general. My name is Al, and I manage/operate Auto-Blip since the passing of my brother Andres in early 2021. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of you over the last 5 years or so. My time has been spent learning, improving and developing Auto-Blip. It is hard to believe it’s been 14 years since we first introduced Auto-Blip. Today we market 3 different units for various applications. I am currently working on finalizing a unit for 05’-10’ Mustangs. My brother used to retrofit (on request) a Standard AB unit to work on the 3 signal wire APPS system of these early drive-by -wire cars. As many of you know, most cars, including post-2010 Mustangs, use only 2 signal wire APPS systems. This unit, however, was never sent for final development and production. So after my brother passed, this project was placed on hold. I would like to ask that someone with one of this working units loan it to us for a couple of weeks. We can discuss compensating you for the trouble. And, of course, we will return the AB to you once we examine it. You will also receive a new production unit once they come out. We are well advanced in the development process, but having a working unit to pair them up would definitely expedite things. Also, if you live near the Tampa Bay, FL area and have a 2005-2010 Mustang, reach out, we would like to examine your car whether you have an Auto-Blip or not. Please do not hesitate to contact me direct if you have any questions, need any help or support with an installation. I will also ensure that all TMO members have access to the very best price on an Auto-Blip all year round. You can reach me at (713)289-4015 or at [email protected]
One last thing, I am not here to make anyone a believer, but I stand behind Auto-Blip providing unequal precision and consistency when needing to ‘blip’ your throttle. We don’t think ‘blipping’ is something you want to leave up to your heel as you approach a curve at 80 mph.

If you could do one thing...it would be to have the unit normally OFF. That way you can move the car around without it going off on its own, then turn it on when you enter the track

Rob brings up a good suggestion. I am a long-time user of the Auto-Blip and am extremely pleased with the unit, as long as the wire connections remain connected. The as supplied T-Tap spade wire connectors are in my opinion not the best. After several months of track use, intermittent connections resulted in a non-reliable Auto-Blip. Yes, they are easy and quick to install tapping into the various necessary wires, but my experience is the track vibrations eventually lead to continuity issues. My solution was to solder the wire splice connections. Problems solved. But back to the "normally off" issue, I too have experienced numerous times moving the car around the paddock or loading when the auto blip goes off and I have to turn it off to prevent further blips. I think having it default to off and having the driver consciously turn the unit on merits some thought.

Just wire a switch in line to turn on/off. I use a different blip device but a simple switch mounted inside of the ebrake handle works well. It is easily within reach and you can’t accidentally hit it.

Thanks EF1 for the suggestion and that may very well work for your auto-blip device. The actual auto-blip head unit does in fact have an on/off switch with a light on to indicate the auto-blip is activated. Simple enough to just hit the switch on the auto-blip unit to turn it off. But remembering to do so is Rob's and my suggestion to Al. When powered up the unit defaults to "on" mode and we are suggesting that maybe on power up the unit should be off so the driver can select the on mode. And again I am very pleased with my auto-blip unit.

You can't just " wire a switch in" the Auto Blip gets it's voltage from several sources apparently depending on application and programming. I've attempted to do just that but there is always lights on the AB
I have a MASSIVE yellow sticker to remind me to turn off the unit. I was pulling the car onto the trailer when it went off with the wife standing near the front of yhe car, no harm done since the clutch was in,but it definitely scared her.
I love the unit, I just wish it defaulted to OFF instead of ON in case I forget.

Yep, totally agree. I did not know the unit derrives power from sources beyond the typical red wire. We just have to remember better;)

I thought about putting the switch on the ground side, but then thought better of it, that might let the smoke out.
In the meantime...

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but i can't direct message you since i am to new of a member, but How did you make your Auto Blip work for 05-10 GT? I tried to order one from them in November and they told me it wouldn't work with the 3 wire system and refunded my money back.

In post #1, Al from Auto-Blip gives you both his phone number and email address. No better authority than the inventor/manufacturer of the product. I would suggest you contact Al.

Absolutely call Al, he's the expert, not I. I am merely a pawn in the game of life

It's been so long, I dont remember, I do know there's a difference between the 06 GT and the 07 Shelby, as I recall, I copied the wiring from the 07.

No worries, i reached out to Al and he told me he should have answers within the month. I just didn't know if you solved the issue or he did. I'll just be patient, ive lived this long without it, a few more months is no big deal.

I'm beyond excited. It'll make me faster on the track for sure

I wish it was easier for me to learn how to heel toe, but the first 5 years of my w2w career my crown vics pedal placement was impossible to heel toe. So i learned to be as fast as i could without that technique.IMG_5853.JPG

Now my track car is not street legal and due to title issues, (its not stolen, i verrifed with the local sherrifs department) it will more than likely never be street legal, so learning outside of on the track at race speed is not fun and next impossible.

Rob, a year or so into my Auto-Blip (AB) ownership, I was having intermittent issues with my unit. Borrowed a buddy's unit to swap into my car and still had the intermittent issue. Contacted Al and he was most helpful. Offered to send me a replacement unit at a discounted price since he could not troubleshoot my existing unit. During the swap out process I came to realize my intermittent problem was a continuity issue with the AB wires connected to the factory wires. Again those T-tap wire splices supplied with the AB kit were at fault not the AB electronics. Went back in and soldered all the wire splice connections and never had any further issues. I echo your observation; Al is a great asset to the TMO community and stands behind his product.
