2012 S197 Dome Light Disable

Replaced doors on my 2012 S197 with fiberglass. Still using factory latch mechanism but not really wanting to move the factory door wiring harness over.

So, with it unplugged the car thinks my doors are open all the time, so the dome and sill lights are on. Not sure what else stays on in this state. Probably a door ajar note on the dash buried in the christmas tree I already have there.

Do 2012 have dark mode in the BCM I can set via Forscan? Or can I just unplug the lights and leave it?

Any other ideas?

Curious about the same thing with a recent switch to carbon doors. I de-pinned the door harness to retain only the electric mirror adjustments. Didn’t realize the door ajar sensor was in the latch mechanism.

Related question - what did you use for a threaded plate on the opposite side of the hinge bolts?

2011 wiring diagram showing circuit for "door ajar" switch.

Looks like you can ground the Green/Violet wire going into the driver side door latch, and the white wire going into the passenger side latch, to indicate "not ajar" status for the doors. Looks like same colors all the way from the smart junction box to the door latch, so you should be able to ground them where you've disconnected the door loom at the A-pillar, or right at the SJB, whichever is easier.
YMMV, no user serviceable parts inside, not a licensed electrician or mechanic.

@67GTA My poverty spec fiberglass doors were super thick in the hinge area so I just used fender washers on the backside.

@Dave_W Thank you very much! Not sure why I didn't think of this, but glad that one of us is smart. :) 2005-2010 apparently has a separate door ajar switch before they integrated it to the latch.

Closing the loop, @Dave_W wiring trick worked fine. I just tapped it by the door plug and grounded to the door stopper thing.

It is apparently not an issue, but the keep alive for the radio/accessories that would typically stay on after key off until the door(s) open has no signal so if the radio is on it stays on 5-7 minutes until it times out. Ditto with the digital clock in the radio display.

Thanks for the advice!
