At the track all weekend and had no issues previously but when i took car off trailers and started it it had if i remember a “right height sensor” malfunction warning then a suspension warning of some kind(should of took a pic can’t remember exact wording) that put it into a limp mode no track modes (magnaride inop) and limited speed to 80 mph. I thought great this is gonna suck tried removing battery a couple times. No bueno so I was ready to pack it up and head home but others talked me into going out anyways since i was there and it was a short track so was not a killer. After the first session did the battery thing again and went away. Second session did battery thing again issue went away it worked half way through session then came back same issue. Starting to think a ride height sensor went out or got damaged. So one of the mustang gurus at the track i met previously was there and went over to ask him he tried to scan it but scanner would not work on the 650 lol but then he visually looked under the car and felt for the wiring harness. He previously has had issues with and just fixed a GT500 at his shop which had tire rub on harness. RR he said was rubbing. So i jacked it up pulled off tire and sure as sh*t harness worn through from tire rub. I rounded up some wire and electrical tape and made a very cheesy repair splicing it back together and ran the rest of the weekend great. I also zip tied it way back out of the way. Seems to be a defect with the routing and 315 rear tires. I would check the mag ride harness and move them behind the strut as this could really ruin your weekend

No it’s back to ford I hear they have to replace whole strut as harness is integral 🙄

Very lame on a new car

Other wise finding lots of speed in this car 😉

I would suggest tie wrapping the bundle back behind the shock. You can see it contacted it as well. Waiting to hear how the track alignment did it from dealer. Apparently the sensors and wiring are a weak point

Consider repairing the harness. There appears to be enough wire remaining to make the repair. Get some heat shrink, waterproof connectors and have at it. Tie it out of the way once repaired. Take the money saved and sign up for another track day…..or two.

Thanks i did repair it at the track and ran the rest of the weekend. Its under warranty so i just dropped it off at the local
dealer and showed them the pic. Waiting to hear but since it’s under warranty assume no issues but factory routing was terrible. I’ll make sure they are all BEHIND dampner lol

Appears harness is integral
with shock so new shock will be required and possibly more of the harness as it destroyed the connector

Haha warranty is a good deal and my buddy got 2 engines for his mach 1 under warranty. He's putting in the gt500 pan though this time. I might do the same but i’m still under warranty so screw it. It took 1.5 g’s yesterday i never saw an oil pressure issue. But yeah use it if you got it. Sad a new car has this issue

Yuu will want to also zip tie back the rear brake lines. They are prone to rubbing on wide tires on the inboard side. What wheels and tires? OEM DH? I have had the issue before but only with wide setups that were offset very close to the shock mount - 325 or 335

Sadly according to dealer Ford denied claim because car was used on track. that’s laughable at best. Trying to gather info on this and see about fighting it. If ford won’t stand behind its track ready” cars then that’s lame lame lame

You get "some" that argue manufacturers "have to prove" a mod caused a failure to deny warrantee.
And your not even modded.

When they make a vehicle that literally has a "track mode", I don't see how Ford could win that one, if bone stock
(aside from they have way more lawyers than you).

It's not just Ford. Toyota has been known to deny claims when your truck has been used off-road, even though you have the TRD Offroad or TRD Pro package.

Yeah this is pretty frustrating. Advice is to find a more track friendly Ford dealer that will go to bat for you. I’ll never do business with Earnhardt Ford again

They may be my mistake. I had track wrap still on it and tape. I had it on my trailer and just dropped it off at the dealer not thinking that Dealers are total assholes. The tires are obviously worn had track alignment and i might of mentioned it. I bought it off a guy who works there and he sold it to me as a “track car” . my bad time to find a new dealer

I guess you gotta play all sorts of games even with a “track” car. Play dumb and dumber and obfuscate the truth

A learning experience for sure

It is very dealer dependent. I've had 2 good dealers that would honestly assess if the failure was from track related abuse or normal 'as designed' running. I don't go to them for wear and tear like wheel bearings, wiring scuffs etc but have had an engine, and failed cats, fuel pumps etc replaced. Sorry to hear they denied you. This is a good product opportunity for a small sheet metal guard for the rear shock wires

Appeal.

Why on earth would using it on track have caused the wiring harness to be worn through?

Get the language of exclusions from the warranty.

Read the entire warranty and look at the process you need to follow.

You are not helpless in this situation. Fight!

"racing" is excluded. Racing can be on the street.

Driving it on a track is not listed in the exclusions.

You were not racing.

A race:
"a competition between people, animals, vehicles, etc., to determine which one is the fastest : a contest of speed"
