Welcome and living on beautiful Vancouver Island you probably have about as much fun driving on some of the island roads as you do it small front tires. Since you are in the learning stage and plan on doing mods as you go I would seriously look into a set of wider wheels in a square set-up. This gives you the ability to rotate and will extend the life for the tires. Apex wheels are one of the wheel manufacturers making various squared set ups for the Mustang. No offense, but the next thing to do after you burn up those Nittos is to get a better set of rubber. Nittos are well known to be notoriously slow, ha. Easy way to go faster is get some darn fast rubber. Post some pics of you at the track as well as shots of the track. I was scheduled to do a guest track intro while my wife and I were on vacation on the island , but that never happened as the trip was scheduled for 2020.

Hi Bill!

Thanks for the advise!
Everything you said is in the works! When I bought this car it was never intended to be a full time track car, I thought I would do 1 or 2 track days a years, but you get hooked pretty quick so now it's a track car!

The RTR's were never meant to be "track" wheels, and the Nitto's were for the street, but since I have them and they are very easy to drive and slow to breakaway I'm going to burn them down learning as much as I can before going to a sticky tire (so no offense taken!).

Apex is an option, I have a few others I'm looking at as well, but yes squared on 305's or 315's.

I'm at the track this Saturday so I'll try and get some photos if I can.

I will make sure to contact you the next time we visit Vancouver Island so I make sure it is during one of your track days. I am sure you wouldn't mind have a 74 year old TMO track rat drive your car for 5-10 or more laps, ha. Seriously, do post some pics as the area the track is situated in looks absolutely gorgeous.

The scenery at VIMC is unbeatable!
They have a beautiful location and facility, the track it self is on the smaller side (and very technical) but so much fun.

Bill, here are some pics from open lapping last Saturday.

Some of you may have heard of the driving coach/author Ross Bentley, he is now working with my local track Vancouver Island Motorsports Circuit.
He was there all day on Saturday giving free coaching, and had 3 "chalk talks" providing so much insight into becoming a better driver and lots of insight specific to our track.

It was a great day, and I'm thrilled that we have such an amazing facility and instructors to learn from.
