I just stumbled across this thread, and now I have to read 6 years of posts and watch all the videos . . . 🤔This is going to cost me a lot of time.😆 (see full post)
130 laps - how many HPDE days, if you can answer? Also, since it sounds like you drive to the track, what sort of alignment settings do you use? (see full post)
The 295/35/19 Yokohama A052 tire is the only track tire that I actually bought twice for 7 seasons with the car. My drive is 124 to 370 miles depending on which track I go to I got 130 laps (240 track miles) out of the last set as well as an 1200...
I always like to refer to this grassroots tire guide. Its more generic for all types of cars but the grading system is nice.https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/track-tire-buyers-guide/
You should take a look at the Vitour P1 tire. People are setting some very good laps with them. One fellow I know with a 800hp M3 could not get his usual Hoosier R7s in time so he went to a track day with the Vitour P1 and set a personal best. I...
Pre Season preparation 2026When January started just days after the 29.12 Dracon event. I started planning the next season. The obvious issue that needs addressing is the Brakes Master Cylinder and the Brakes Booster. Mostly because of the... (see full post)
Having tracked/autocrossed Spec Miatas, Vipers, various Mustangs, Cayman GTS and a boatload of other vehicles (Hondas, Mazdas, etc. ) I can honestly say the simple modifier on tires is simply , Wider is better!" Sure it is a blanket statement but...
Turn 12 scares me in the dry, but I am new.My avatar is just after the esses and starting up turn 5.Racing in the rain is a scary thought for me, but this car is my daily driver, and the nicest, most expensive car I have ever owned, so . . .
Rain is a very judgement based thing. Practice is needed if testing for a race or other competition for sure. But risk reward has to be factored in. Some tracks are pretty decent in wet or damp conditions. Some are treacherous. Mid Ohio even post...
It might seem like a lot but when you have a track day that is non refundable it lets you get out and learn driving skills inthe wet. I'd check back or search around for them. I run 295F/305R in the rain.
Good comments from mikeD4V but if you are deciding on doing Time Trials in the future , do check the rules with the group you may run with. In some cases a 40-100 TWR tire will put you in an Unlimited Class , so if Time Trials are a desire of...
Will agree with Duane about the Conti Sport 02 ,as I recommend it to friends who want to replace their Michelin 4Ss. It is better all the way around and it is a quieter rolling donut also!
The Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 (the 340 treadwear, not 200) has been my go-to for years, along with its predecessor. Much better than a Pilot Sport ps4, which i dumped for more Conti.I keep a set for daily driving, thus, i always have...
Can anybody tell me what he means in the chart with the two columns under the tread width (295 and 305) where he writes 30, 30 sq or leaves it blank?Sorry if that is a stupid question, but I have thought and considered and re-read the post, and...
Oh, you will get some responses from many here have run 315s on S197s, S550s, and S650s. I ran them on my S197s with 11 wide 18 inch wheels. You will have to make some adjustments, but the size is common for those running CAMC, for instance.
