LOL, I hope I never blow enough tires to be so familiar with what the number or locations of holes means . . . (see full post)

Again, not a particularly new tire either. Not defending hoosier, or blaming you , but Hoosier R/A in particular are made as disposable tires. They have none of the materials for UV stability and other magic they put in for long term...

This is an interesting topic as I too experienced an on-track, straight line, Hoosier R7 tire failure which led to the ultimate destruction of my Mustang. The tire was a R7, P315/30/ZR18, date code 1722, incident date 7/2025 with 9 total heat...

Don't mistake my message. I wasn't necessarily arguing against any of it, I was just surprised by it. I realize that Hoosier is the one asking for 40-42. The question is, "Why?" Compared to other tires, this is quite high. We would be hopelessly... (see full post)

Doing an autocross clinic tomorrow with the local Porsche club and have an SCCA solo event on the 31st. A few shots from the last solo event at Tire Rack.

So you're running hots of 32, which means colds are 23-ish. If anything, these seem on the high side. 40-42 psi in a racing tire seems ridiculously high. I've heard fairy tails of street-type tires wanting big pressures here or there over the...

Thanks for your thoughts TeeLew. Actually for a track event you are trying to get to a "hot" tire pressure to get best grip. Cold settings are really just a guess to get you to the target hot pressure. All gasses (nitrogen, air, etc.) all expand...

This is for another fellows car.. He is mostly in time trials and have not seen him race. For my boss, I found the sweet spot for tire wear vs performance was 32 front/30 rear. But AWD and loads of torque is going to be a different animal.

How cool is it to work for LMR - the company you work for will be involved in your HPDE event. Not a bad place to work.

Totally agree, it definitely gives one confidence they are constantly looking for competition parts as well as testing what they sell. You don't often see many aftermarket companies out there racing with those of us who are Trackrats. Cool folks...

Not sure I agree with a few months old. It is a bit hard to see in the picture but I believe the mold date code of the tire appears to be "0123" which would be the first week of year 2023. That would indicate the tires were a couple years old... (see full post)
