Just spitballing here but had an idea to upgrade the rears on a 2017 GTPP. Since the S550 and S650 have interchangeable parts for the suspension, control arms, etc. I was wondering if it would be possible to get the S650 knuckles, calipers, rotors, etc. as well as a brake controller to dial in the bias on an S550?

As far as I can tell the biggest problem (and it’s a big problem) is the S650’s electronic parking brake so the cable wouldn’t work. And I’m ready to be told it wouldn’t work and why…but just seemed like an idea.

I’m not going to tell you can’t be done, I have no idea if it can or can’t. I am curious, why the need to swap the parts? Are the stock rear brakes a problem?
More like I’m looking at an alternative to doing the GT350R overhaul kit (M-2300-Y). The 81/19 stock balance I feel like puts so much stress on the front tires to brake heavy and turn in. The GT350 with its 67/33 bias has this sorted so much better.

I believe @OPMustang Tim has mentioned in the Facebook group a few months ago why it couldn’t be done or what would need to be done.

I may be wrong but if you want less stress on the front then why not increase rear pad compound?

Well, I need to correct my previous statements. The 2024 Mustang I looked at in Feb of 23 was not a production car so basically Ford cheaped out and used the same crappy rear wheel hubs from the S550. I assumed (you know that saying) Ford carried over the GT500 parts for the S650, like they did for the front from the Mach 1. The GT500 rear hub is a preloaded hub like the front Mag Ride hubs. I made these assumptions because of the increased power of the 2024 and the volume of making hubs for the GT500 that, now, apparently only were fit to the 500.

This swap would be feasible except for the parking brake. You would have to wire the system yourself to make those work but the S650 knuckles would retain your axles and hubs and allow you to run the massive rear 4 piston caliper and Ford Explorer rear rotor.

End of the day, just move to an AP system unless you want to say it's all OEM.
