Hi all you track Mustang fans!
I just wanted everyone to be aware of this EPIC event put on by the track event experts the NorCal region of the Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC). This year it is a 2-day event and they will have the entire Sonoma Raceway (still Sears Point for some of us) facilities at their disposal. Participants can even reserve one or more of the NASCAR garages. There will also be some sort of non-judged car show (show and shine, cars and coffee, etc.) in the paddock behind the grandstands. There will also be a Saturday Banquet at the event hotel the Embassy Suites in San Rafael. This is a great place to just relax and talk to friends you haven't met before.
This event is still in the planning stages, so some activities may be added, and registration is not open yet. Please visit the event link occasionally as this will show you when registration opens.
Of course there are hundreds of early and late model Mustangs at these events including GT350Rs, GT500s, lots of Mustang GTs, Focus RSs and, of course, my '95 Cobra R.
These events are widely regarded as THE west coast Ford event of the year. People bring cars from all over North American and sometimes even from overseas.
Make some great memories, meet new people, and get a chance to drive your car at speed on a world famous road course. We have a saying in the club: "Perfect Pavement... NO COPS!".
Thanks, CobraRGuy (Perry)
Update: There will be a banquet buffet dinner Saturday evening at the event hotel the Embassy Suites in San Rafael. There will also be an Auto-X in the paddock area behind the grandstands. Registration should be open by this weekend 4/29 or 4/30. Special room rates are available at the Embassy Suites which should open up this weekend as well.
