- Background & Plans
- Bought this from a Copart insurance auction with 8000 miles. Appears to have been ditched, mostly cosmetic damage, no structural damage or deployed bags. Both bumper covers were missing, as well as radiator condenser and fan. All four wheel and tires were damaged. Oil cooler was missing. One small dent in passenger quarter. That was it for body damage. Over the counter the parts would have been expensive and probably reason it was totaled. The grill alone for example would have been $900 on the insurance estimate. I was able to locate new take offs for most everything and had the car back together and inspected in about 4wks.
The turd, which I knew was a possibility when I bought it, was the engine. Did they run it out of oil due to the damaged oil cooler. Well yes they did. We got it running and initially, about 100 miles all was good. Good oil pressure, no noises, etc. However once we started driving it with some anger the underlying damaged rewarded us with a spun rod bearing, hence the engine work.
