Maybe Ford painted the roof black to simulate a carbon fiber look, like an M3? I can't find any "heritage" reason for it. The C stripes are an obvious throwback, but did they race with C stripes in 1969, or just put them on the production cars?
The black roof looks OK to me - sort of like a glass roof.I'll take some photos after I get the windows tinted. Also thinking of drilling out the fake round parts in the grill. Someone else did this and it looks good.
I prefer the stealth look without the stripes. When you're driving a Boss, the engine/suspension/brakes are fantastic, and you can't see the stripes anyway. That's kind of zen . . .Just took the black saran wrap off the hood yesterday, and the car looks even better. I recommend a hair dryer...
Someone advised me that it's $800 to replace the stripes. Two speeding tickets and I'm past $800 with the cost of the tickets, plus the hit on my insurance.Stealth is good for reducing vehicle theft too. The engine is worth more than 10 grand alone.
Thanks for everyone's understanding. I definitely expected opinions and reactions. I might post another photo from a different angle that looks better.I have to admit, I've never been a fan of stripes (and definitely not chickens) on any car, preferring to see the lines of the car's design...
