I just changed the oil after the car sat for winter, but I see glitter in the drain pan. I do track days roughly 6 times a year and this oil includes my last track day in October. Car ran great and had good oil pressure since I added a Setrab 948 cooler.

I requested a Blackstone sample kit, but also wondering what others opinions are here. I know any metal in oil is bad. Wondering how bad.

Was the oil drain pan clean before you drained the oil into it? There seems to be debris in there that doesn't look like metal, which is why I ask. If the drain pan was stored open or under a counter it could collect material and dust from the air if you did any metal cutting or grinding. Did you cut open the filter?

@mwjscn I did do some cutting when I built the Setrab cooler, but I wiped down the drain pans before the oil change. Which I'm sure I could have missed some debris.

So for peace of mind and to avoid contamination I decided to order a vacuum dipstick pump and a premium sample kit from SPEEDiagnostix. My plan is to drive easy with the fresh oil to get some miles on it and send the sample to both Blackstone and SPEEDiagnostix to see what's going on.
