Hi Guys,
Have some major modifications soon to be underway, you may have seen my other thread https://trackmustangsonline.com/threads/suggest-a-manifold-and-throttle-body-combination.21504/
Now my next issue is tuning for l&m cams, intake, cai and throttle body. Now i have asked various tuners from the states about tuning this AUSTRALIAN car and have been met with a variety of responses. Unfortunately they all end up being a NO. Apparently we are different or they want just their mods done.
Now i have purchased and HPTuners MPVI3 unit to allow me to read and potentially modify the ecu. Have been doing an incredibly deep dive into coyote tuning in general and realise it is pretty significant and kinda daunting. Have been going through the stock tune and playing with the areas i know about like the throttle body that comes with a mod file it. Each tab seems to open new surprises and more questions.
I'm currently looking for tuners in Australia but i don't think there are many here that would have done the level of changes i have lined up.

Cutting to the chase, does anyone have a cobrajet manifold tune for HPTuners that isn't locked. I realise it can't be just plug and play but would like to compare it to my stock non-US tune. It would also give me a tune to dissect and learn from in terms of what changes have been made to which areas.
Call it a reference file for want of a better word. I really want to get a handle on what needs to be modified so i can assess what tuners are offering here.

Realise its a big ask but i have my fingers crossed. Confidentiality guaranteed it won't end up sprayed across the internet. My private use only.

A Cobrajet mainfold just requires setting Engine-> Airflow -> Speed Density -> Mainfold Volume to 12.9L.

The rest though depends on which parts you're using. The throttle body you are using will need to you to apply the modified effective area and predicted throttle angle tables to match and you need to adjust your MAF airflow vs period tables to reflect the new CAI tube diameter.

This will get you a baseline functional vehicle that you can drive safely and get to a dyno to start doing real tuning efforts on.

Confidentiality be damned this information should be freely available to anyone who wants it to work on their own vehicles. Car guys love to hoard information and sit on it like they're Smaug, it's incredibly frustrating.

Thanks for input. Had done just that, except the manifold volume i had was 635cui = 10.4L. Now i did read there was discussion about where the volume was measured from and there was the confusion. No definitive answer. Now if someone from Ford could definitively say how it was designed to be calculated then everyone would be better off.
The VMP throttle body has a mod file that does the setup changes in HPTuners which is nice.
Know i have to scale the MAF settings for the increased cross section of the intake at the measure point.
From there the steep learning curve starts and where i would like a proper tuner to take over. As you said, its enough to get it running which was the primary goal.
I want to learn but not at the expense of an engine but would like to understand what and why.

Totally agree about the information being freely available but happy to abide by whoever is willing to part with their hard earned knowledge. But as many discussions about locked files, they are usually to protect those who say they can tune but don't really understand how they got there.
Whether it is a carby or efi, finding that one person who just gets it is like hitting the jackpot.

Edit:
And sure enough, after more digging.

Here's mine but my cams are locked. It's a 2012 Boss 302 so might be a little different than a gen 2
I've read on HP tuner forum that the value for the cams on LM website are pretty spot on and shouldn't be changed much.

Also check out EvansPerformance. He has very good tutorials on how to tune those cars. I used his tutorial and have been able to tune mine since no other tuner wanted to do it since I got locked cams

Thank you for that. Starting from scratch, i really need to get my head around engine operation, timing etc Usually have been the dummy in the drivers seat and just pedal as fast as i can. Playing with the mechanical side and now the electronics is something i just have to dedicate time to.
I had seen some of the Evans Performance video teasers and figured i would probably go down that path also.

Nice to know, i've been collecting as much information on all the parts and what setting etc are required or suggested as starting points.

As far as timing , looks like the coyote likes about 30deg.

If you run E85 or racegas it shouldn't be an problem with knock.

There's a cobrajet file in HPtuner database and I pretty much copied the spark timing from that file.
I'm waiting to see if my friend with a Boss302S will let me read his Ford Performance tune so I can compare it with mine

Have downloaded that cobrajet file as well for reference but take into account its for a drag car. We run 98 octane which is comparable to your 93.

Also found a FRPP3 file which list this as it attributes, was majorly curious about the no lift shift stratergy. I do however prefer my clutch intact so will be curious how it was implemented rather than actually engaging it.
  • The Ford Racing Performance Pack 3 (FRPP 3) is a kit designed to boost the performance of 2015-2017 Ford Mustang GT models. It includes a GT350 intake manifold, a cold air intake, an 87mm throttle body, and a Ford Performance calibration. The pack is engineered to provide significant horsepower and torque gains, especially at higher RPMs.
  • Key Features and Benefits:
  • GT350 Components:
  • The FRPP 3 kit utilizes the same intake manifold, cold air intake, and 87mm throttle body found on the Shelby GT350, allowing for increased airflow.

  • Increased Horsepower and Torque:
  • It offers peak gains of 37 horsepower and 5 lb-ft of torque, with a substantial 60 horsepower gain at 7500 RPM.

  • Enhanced Throttle Response:
  • The calibration included in the pack optimizes throttle response for a more engaging driving experience.
  • No-Lift Shift:
  • The calibration features a no-lift shift strategy, allowing drivers to maintain full throttle while shifting without hitting the rev limiter.
  • Gear Ratio Support:
  • The calibration supports gear ratio changes up to 4.09:1, giving tuners more flexibility.
  • Ford Performance Calibration:
  • The included calibration is 50-state legal and ensures optimal performance and reliability.
  • Requires Premium Fuel:
  • The kit requires 91 octane or higher fuel to operate at peak performance.

again try https://www.motorsportandperformance.com/ in the UK they specialise in tuning for UK/EU/AUD market cars so they should be able to provide you with a tune.

The FP3 calibration from my experience with the kit is spot on though the open airbox has some challenges noticeably higher IAT's in traffic but overall the car performs great with the FP3. I love the 7450 red line. The NLS is something that I at least didn't tried mostly because of mechanical sympathy to my MT82. But it works similar to the rev hang in the OEM map for the engine.

did you pull a gen 2 ford performance power pack tune with hp tuners? my buddy just bought all the parts gt350 intake manifold gt 350 cold air intake and the throttle body. i would love to see this file if you could send me a copy. i cannot seem to get rid of a low rpm surge on this setup. any help would be greatly appreciated

Pulled the files i had stashed from the HP Tuners website. Rename the zip file as above ".hpt" .
Hope it makes sense to you, i was going to use it as a reference point to try learn what is what compared to my stock 17 file.

Finally got a chance to put all the parts back on and load the file in the car. It ran flawless. Cannot thank you enough.
