Howe ball joint rebuild?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

I have a 2012 GT and a few years ago I installed the Energy Suspension poly bushings and Howe extended ball joints in the front control arms. The ball joints are starting to make some noise now and grease only helps for a while, so I'm thinking they need replaced. I figured I would just buy new and replace them but the cost has gone up almost 90% since I originally purchased them. I thought they were rebuildable but I can't find any information on a rebuild kit. Has anybody here rebuilt them? Should I just pay for the replacements?

I don't think they sell them directly just through watson, you may want to give them a call.

Edit: what EF1 said.

There is a procedure to adjust the play on the Howe ball joints on the Howe website. That being said once they begin to make noise there is the danger that they will fail at the taper into the spindle. I had one fail at speed and it cost me a car due to the resulting fire. Long story told here somewhere. Another friend lost one at Lime Rock at speed but luckily saved the car and we were able to replace it at the track. These are definite wear/maintenance items and if making noise should be serviced.
