I have the opposite problem, only had the Red key, thinking about going to the dealer and getting a new key made and programmed but worried they will screw up the Track Key programming.

Dealer should be able to program a new key as a trackey for you without any issues. If you were anywhere near Central Ohio I could do it for you, I have the IDS software and a legit VCM-II.

Is it the program and hardware for just the engine tune flash that the dealers no longer can do?

The flash/tune is a separate function and cannot be done any longer. IDS can just designate a key as a trackey, but it cannot enable trackey functions in a tune that doesn't have it already.

Thanks so much for your message. My car once had a functioning red track key. The red key was lost. So do you think a new red key could be programmed to the existing track program in the car?

Any key can be programmed to be a trackey if you have the tool and the program, yes (It doesn't have to be red, just a compatible key). Once designated that key will activate the alternative settings in the strategy.

Do you know ... are the red key and the silver key exactly the same (physically and electrically) before programming?

They are identical yes.
