Cones - not just for ice cream
Are you talking about the wire clip being loose on the strut on the right? That's to keep the strut compressed during shipping so it fits in a smaller box. Before installing, you'd remove that clip and also (what looks to be) the plastic cap protecting the threads on the end of the shaft.
