Just had a new track key programmed to replace a lost one. My concern is that the idle is not very lopey. The idle seems to be a little rougher and the exhaust note is a little deeper, but I would not call it lopey. The person that owner the car before me lost the key so I do not have a reference to what it sounded like with original track key. Anyone experience have the experience that the track key idle is not very lopey? Thanks guys. Dave

Coyote's shouldn't really ever sound choppy unless they're messing with VCT artificially or the VCTs are locked out. Totally normal

There are a few requirements for the "lopey idle" to be activated in TracKey mode - Google says coolant temp over 170, then another 130 to 210 seconds, then a throttle blip. I believe you'll see a message on the dash ("trackey engine enabled" or "trackey idle enabled") when it kicks in.

And yes, it's playing with the VCT to do it.

The sound may depend on if you have the baffle plate installed in your side exhaust. Mine comes on once its warmed up and the track key idle enabled message appears on the dash cluster.

I do see the message "track key idle active" and i have the plates drilled out to 5/8 inch. The sound is different with track idle active but not what i would call lopey. I have had vintage cars with mild cams and they were lopey. Some one said you need to drive the car hard and the car will learn your driving habits and the idle will get more lopey. Nor too sure about that.

It's fairly mild compared to other ghost cams. Excessive idle lope causes too much raw fuel to enter the exhaust and fowl the catalyst, so the Ford engineer detuned it a bit from what it was like in pre-production. You can add some overlap in the tune with hptuners and make it more aggressive if you want at the cost of likely ruining your cats.
