Can you explain this a bit more? Isn't the reservoir cap usually vented? Does the Schrader valve act as a check valve to allow makeup air when there's fluid loss in the reservoir and the cap isn't vented?
Dave, the reservoir wasn't vented, so I told the shop to add the valve for the exact reason you noted. It allows air into the reservoir, but not out. FWIW, I've done the same thing with small fuel cells with racing style fillers. They don't need a vent while filling since the filler is wide open, but they need to ingest air when the tank is emptied.
