Interesting. I know some people have their opinions of him but Speed Phenom just made valid points that the layout over the years have changed. I know longer track doesn’t always mean slower times but the points brought up are still valid.
In summary: Porsche GT3RS was ran on a shorter/older format. Time difference between Porsche and GTD are closer than perceived.
On the longer format based on official Nurburgring data the difference is 8 seconds:
| 6:49.328 | Porsche 911 GT3 RS | Jörg Bergmeister | 05.10.2022 | > video |
| 6:55.737 | Porsche 911 GT3 Manthey Performance Kit | Kévin Estre | 21.04.2022 | > video |
| 6:57.685 | Ford Mustang GTD | Dirk Müller | 07.08.2024 | > video |
You could actually argue that because the curb was changed after fox hole and couldn't be taken anymore like the Porsche here:

Not like the GTD fallowing the change in the Curb:

The difference is even smaller but the biggest difference for me in both cars is that the Porsche just carry a lot more speed into corners in general which only mean that it's lighter and it has more Downforce and Mechanical grip.
This is actually why on the longer straights the difference in top speed is not that big:

And the GTD:

As you can see the Porsche start with 5 km/h more exiting the big straight and reaching a top of 283 km/h while the GTD even starting 5 km/h behind manage to reach 301 km/h end of straight.
This means that while the GTD is heavier and loosing time in the corners the 815 HP Predator is doing hell of a work to keep up and kill the Porsche on the straights. And it's managing to close the huge gap in corners to only 8 seconds for 20 km lap.
I know a lot of people bash the GTD for been super expensive and stuff but we have to give Ford/Multimatic credit where credit is due they did hell of a lot considering the drivetrain is actually something out of a regular Mustang. I really want to see Ford do more laps like this with other models namely: Dark Horse, whatever new GT500 equivalent they come up with etc.
I think the GTD is showing what that platform is really capable of on the track and I don't have there are a lot of cars that could sound so good doing it.
