This is the understatement of ...........forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.............anybody who don't, deserves what they get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Rotella thread seems to pop up on almost every Forum I have been on over the years, yet all the race Engineers I knew at Ford or Dodge all recommended other oils. I used to change my oil when racing W2W after two race weekends and with street cars doing Time Trials or HPDEs I would usually do the same since there was also some road miles on the motor. The word cheap started off as a key word of the OP's thread and my answer is ---" Changing oil often is a super cheap way to keep your motor running for a long time when tracking." Cheap insurance , use a good oil and meet the Manufactures specs and that will take alot of the guessing out of the equation, imho.

Rotella seemed like the secret sauce oil years ago. Maybe it filled a void for specific applications when better choices were not available. Seems like there are better options that are available off the shelf.

That’s really the key point. Availability facilitates “often” oil changes. Within the “good” oil category, there is still a large cost range. Non boutique oils aside, is there a standout value…

Ford Engineers have come quite often to the "Fast Fords and Mustang Roundup " over the years and they swear by Ford Motorcraft 5-50W Full Synthetic ---- flat told us years back it was specially formulated with the Oil Company and Ford together. Either way, it is the top choice by most Trackrats who show up for the event so I guess it might be considered the top choice, ha!

I have been out of the oil business for nearly 6 years now, but while I was in Motorcraft was produced by Conoco Phillips. I do not know if it still is. Keep in mind that Motorcraft is not a producer. There is a specification created by Ford and producers submit their formulation along with a bid for the contract. Meeting the spec is the easy part. But, I think we can all agree that the contract most likely went to the lowest bidder. That does not mean that the product would be second tier or low budget. It just means that it was the lowest price.
