Dipstick accuracy

As stated in my previous post (Oil priming) I change my oil pan for the Moroso race unit, after putting about 8.5 quarts in it it already shows full. Now the pan should hold 2 extra quart according to Moroso and they also say that the OE dipstick will work, obviously it will pass the full mark. Anybody did this swap and experience the same issue.

Thanks for you help

The original dipstick should work as the location hasn't changed where the dipstick goes in, correct? If your reading goes higher on the dipstick, you will have to much oil in the pan which could be lead to issues such as oil hitting the rotating crankshaft. The two extra quarts should be in the bottom sides of the pan, not above the original oil level.

Concur I have the same oil pan and it took me 12 quarts to get the dipstick to read normal

I actually changed my oil today for the first time with a moroso pan. When newly installed, the pan took 10qrts, today I put in 10 and it showed overfilled by 1qrt. So i drove a little bit... assuming the baffles held an extra qrt and didnt let it drain somehow. Needless to say, I had to drain about a qrt to get it to the max line. I say drive around the neighborhood a little, pull over, let the car sit for a bit and check again.

Dipstick in the same location, pan is about the same height but much wider. Maybe because I let the OE pan drain for one week before removing it and also took the oil pick up off ( about 1/2 quart drained out of that also. Oil filter stayed on. I didnt even started the car yet...Still winter here.
