FoxBody FAFOX Build Thread Profile - Fox Body Mustangs

Oh hey, I'm a car. I have gone very fast. I will go even faster, or die trying.

I haven't driven Ozarks and I know a lot of people are afraid of it, but I think it's the single coolest track in North America from an outsider's perspective. If my car is ready, I'd absolutely tow out there. It'd be just like the good ol' days Pat!
We putting the band back together?? I’ll be your huckleberry.

If we do, I got dibs on Dusty Bottoms because my vocal range is limited for "my little buttercup"

And Now for Something Completely Different

All of this stuff is completely new to me, haven't driven a carbureted car since my first one. Anyhow, without further adue, here's what we're starting with:

Griggs GR-40, torque arm and Watts Link
Koni coilover
275/40/17 17x9s
In car and under car subframes
Full cage, fire system
15 gal fuel safe

347 Dart thick wall, 4.125" bore
AFR 205 heads, Edelbrock intake, Holley 750
BBK longtubes
Accusump, Canton pan
Tremec T-5, Pro 5.0
Larson Racing 3.73 8.8" with 9" axle ends
Wilwood 6p front, 4p rear, + in-car proportioning valve

Pretty good starting point, and going from what I can gather from what others have had like this in the past, that should fit nicely in NASA ST/TT2 at around 3000# and 400rwhp, yeah?

So I guess, I might as well give it a few laps in the current config to see how dialed in it is, maybe get it dynoed and scaled, just to be sure. Not entirely sure what to do with carbs, but I guess I've got some time on my hands with it hitting like, -2 out the other day. Depending on how that goes will probably answer my question on whether to convert that to EFI, or maybe do a Coyote swap and use that opportunity to bring in some supporting modernization. I thankfully stopped myself from going on some data bender in the sim racing thread, but I feel strange, almost naked, for not having the data as I'm used to, but hey, I'm stepping out of my comfort zone, might as well FAFO, because what's the worst that could happen?

I'm still alive. Eagles may soar (AND WIN THE f***ing SUPERBOWL), but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

I've been quietly working on a project that I'll hopefully be able to show shortly. If you think I'm a halfway decent driver, a halfway decent instructor, and/or a halfway decent professional in a halfway decently related field, then by that logic, perhaps I'll have a halfway decent thing to show, halfway. Halfway through the legal stuff, which drives me half insane. Car has been sitting and collecting dust, and pissing me off every time I look at how it's sat there, waiting to be used and abused. Sadly, the seasons here in Illy are on a different cadence than the good ol' Southern California ones, so might as well wrap this thing up. Sucks trying to test the readiness of something that isn't street legal, but heh, so does the NVH from something that's pretty close to solid everything. I guess she'll be ready when the time is right. Maybe I'll put her up in the air this year... with my luck, just in time for a tornado to throw her in full aero trim through a bus of nuns. Had more tornados than days of the year, so, y'know, given how many crazy things I've said over the years, this one's not just in the ballpark, but a lanky 6'8 lefty junk-baller in the bullpen. Comfortably sitting and spitting seeds, thankfully.

For now.

Here's a teaser pic showing tallboi problems, socks n' crocs, and some impressive gams. Fox was already bad enough for tall fellas, but if you toss in a cage and some cage padding... Oy. Good news is that I don't have to start over from scratch, although, not going to lie, it was an awful lot of fun the first go-around. For instance, whenever somebody would haggle me over parts, I'd generally cave, and meet halfway on one condition - they had to pick me up a California or Carne Asada Burrito from the best place they know of the way. Can't really do that this time, I believe the only thing stock on this appears to be the door handles. Downside is, zero data, no data collection since there's no data to collect, at least from the current capability. That's going to have to change though, I'm no dummy.
