So you want to a carbon fiber wing bit don't have the bucks, here's the cheap way out. In my case I wasn't sure if I wanted to have a black wing or not, so I thought that I'd check it out the cheap way before making it permanent.
I wanted to extend the "dark" theme a little more on my car so I whipped up a carbon fiber rear wing. The issue with "street" type carbon is that in order to get it to look good it will be layed over fiberglass, which in most cases is actually heaver than the original part. It will also have a thicker resin or "finish" coat. In some experiments with the WRX the carbon part was waaayyy over weight compared to the original aluminum hood panel.
So here's plan "B"
Removed rear wing from the mustang, (and noted a small stress crack on the left side)
Purchased the carbon wrap from a local sign shop, removed the struts and installed the wrap, then replaced to struts.
Finished project
