The Mustang exhaust valves can be kept in a fixed position by unplugging the wire harness to the exhaust valves. The valves will then remain in the position they were in when the harness was disconnected. Unfortunately, the Mustang diagnostics will detect the open wire harness and generate a fail mode indication. This fail condition interferes with the drive mode settings.
To mitigate this, these GrimmSpeed "simulators" are resistors with values similar to the resistance value of the primary coil in the exhaust valve relay. They are encased in a plastic housing that will plug into the exhaust valve harness. These “simulators” make the car think the exhaust valves are still connected and thus allow the driver modes to function normally.
This pair has been used once in a Shelby GT350 for a two-day trip to Laguna Seca and worked fine. They are in excellent condition. I am changing to a switched electrical control for the exhaust valves and thus no longer need these simulators.
