Remember last years SCCA runoffs when an ill advised move by a competitor took out pole sitter Kurt Rezzatano and tore up a brand new race car?
Well over the last year the car was totally disassembled down to basically the tub, placed back in the jig and completely rebuilt at the Phoenix shop in Pennsylvania, nicknamed the "junkyard dog" the car was driven this year at the SCCA runoffs in Daytona and qualified on the pole....but there's more tot he story.
Not only did the car sit on the pole but it won Touring 2 by 20 seconds, even after slowing down to save the tires.
But there's even more..
The Junkyard Dog's engine and transmission was taken out of a wrecked car that had 40 thousand miles on it...40 thousand miles...bone stock...never rebuilt.
The first time it had been apart was in tech.

Awesome and congratulations Kurt! Which engine was used? Did AJ run as well?
