Oil Pump Gear / Crank Sprocket Upgrade? 2022 Mach 1 w/hp. Stock engine.

Some people tell me don’t change unless I go to 750+ horsepower.
Others have told me that their gen 3 Coyote gears let go, and destroyed their engine, even though they were stock.
I’ve also been told that at some point, Ford upgraded the quality of the oil pump gears in the generation 3 coyote.
So which is it?
Thank you.

I got mine changed when we did a full timing components refresh with the ford performance kit along with the oil pan, water pump etc. I put a boundary pump gear in and used the crank sprocket in the Ford kit.

I would not worry about it failing out of nowhere- especially on a road course car at stock power. I think its worthwhile while the timing cover is off and its all opened up, but wouldn't worry about it.

FWIW this won't be reassuring but I've had an unlucky friend blow 2 different gen 3's on track in his M1, but neither of them were OPG related.

Lost some 3 engines... memory has blocked the exact amount for some reason. None have been OPG or pump related. But definitely oil cooling and line size related.

OPGs aren't really that much of an issue, the crank gear can be but only if you're hanging a supercharger off the snout of the crank or banging off the rev limiter constantly. It's an overstated problem but a fairly easy 'while you're in there'
