Hey guys say Im wondering, if anyone here happens to have any ideas again? Well, why? My shifter is locked out of reverse. I have a 2014 Mustang GT with a 118000 miles on it. And i've tried just about everything at this point . I'm aware that that year has some issues or that the s 197 has had some issues with lockout. But man this is insane. I bought the car, came home, drove great for about a month or two then the lock out started and slowly got worse to where the car would not go in gear at all unless I turn it off and put it in gear while off. So I put a new clutch and flywheel and that worked for 1 month then the problem started over. So I went to a different mechanic. We bled the clutch it worked and helped for 2 days and the problem started over . Then I go to another mechanic and he said the weld on my pedal assembly was broke. Fixed it 1k dollar job and this is after the $1600 clutch .. I picked it up yesterday and it drove absolutely beautiful for 1 whole hour but it was the best hour ive ever had in a mustang haha. Then the sticking of the shifter started again in reverse like it always does. Insane like an Omen so now hes saying it has to be the tra mission. . I guess what im wondering after this rant and history on the vehicle I told you about is,
WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE CAUSING MY STOCK SHIFTER TO STICK AND LOCK OUT ?

So frustrating can't tell you

Was gonna ask if you have an MGW shifter -- those have an adjustment that could cause this issue. Wish I could say I've seen this before. But these MT-82s seem to have a lifespan of around 100k miles IMO... if I had to guess, your transmission is a little off. If you haven't changed the fluid in a while that'd be worth a try. But with the word you're using, "lockout", I'm guessing you're getting blocked by the blocker rings... it could be the shifter... If you shift to 1st and then to reverse does that work better?

I do have a question... weld on pedal assembly? It only costs $600 to buy a new one. What was going on there?

Hey man thanks to the reply. I actually do have an MGW Shifter, but I haven't put it in yet. This is happening with the stock shifter. And sometimes it does help if I put it in first and then back to reverse. And then also, it was about six hundred dollars to replace the pedal assembly but then about three hundred for the labor to put in . Truthfully im not sure about the transmission fluid or the shifter rings but i appreciate you mentioning that and will check with the mechanic . Its been a real mystery and Im afraid maybe the reason behind getting the car at a good price and why the mechanic that owned it sold it to me . Super frustrating. The only problem since Ive had it but then agai. Ive only been able to put about 4k miles on it since I bought it . It's just odd too that everyone we try to fix it it does run good for a little while then back to locking out
