For Sale: sub belt mounts

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

For sale: Sub belt mounts. These mounts allow you to use sub belts and have those sub belts come up between the bottom and back of the seat instead of around the side of the seat. The mounts are attached by unbolting the rear seat mounts and sliding the mount under the rear seat attachment points/frame. The mount is extremely strong but does raise the back of the seat by about 1/4". I will build these on a per order basis as I am not sure how much need there is for these. I will sell both driver and passenger side sub belt mounts, powdercoated black for $130 shipped. This is for the mounts only, no belts, clips or other hardware included. This mount is for sub belts only. You cannot attach a lap belt to this mount. Send me a PM if you are interested. Mike

I have the first prototype version of these which are slightly different but work well. They are the same great quality as all of Mike's other products.

Does the mount require a longer bolt for the rear seat attachment?

If so, what size and grade?

Thanks

I am not sure if the existing stud will work, but not sure if I would recommend using it anyways. I'm not sure what grade the existing stud is? I don't think a grade 10.9 stud is available.

I have the cooltech clips and they came with replacement bolts.

I used these bolts to test fit the mounts (without the cooltech clips installed) and they were plenty long enough and they were grade 10.9 too. So yes, you are probably going to want to purchase M10-1.5 x 30 Grade 10.9 Metric Hex Flange Bolt or longer.

Yes it's from an SAE document but has good illustrations...

Page 25/26 - sub belts 5/6 should be mounted slightly ahead of or up to 20 degrees behind the groin.

To be clear this is designed for six point only which requires a mounting point behind the groin, see page 26. While the mount position is not perfect keep in mind that anything short of a full roll cage with fire suppression and nomex suit is a compromise. You need to determine what's safe for you. This is designed for participating in HDPE events and not racing.

It also depends on where your seat ends up being in relation to the location of the bar/bracket, tiny little people end up being way forward, taller folks will end up farther back...

Schroth has a good description on the forces at work...

Mike,

with your skills, could you make a more affordable trans scoop for our cars?
Possibly one that would stick out the bottom of the car a little less!

I currently have a set available right now.

Also, I do not include directions with these as they are pretty simple to install, but there is a left and right mount. When installing these you want the two loops centered in the seat. Also, make sure when installing these that once you drop the seat mounts back on top of this sub belt mount that you push the sub belt mount forward and up tight against the factory set mounts before tightening down the seat. Thanks, Mike
