- Background & Plans
- The story on this car started back in 1969, I was 15 years old, when the local Ford Dealer had a new 1969 Boss 302 on the showroom floor. My father had taken me to the TransAm race in Lime Rock a couple of weekends before and I was hooked on road racing, had to experience it somehow, just didn't realize it would take almost 50 years.....
Before this car I had an 03 Cobra that I started doing track events with in 2003, great car and I had lots of fun with it for almost 14 years. When Ford brought out the 2102 Boss 302 I knew this would be the car that would replace my 03 Cobra, but again, timing was not right at that time.
Fast forward to 2016, one of my track buddies purchases this car and we do a couple of events together. At Roebling Road I gave him $20 and he said what is this for???? I told him "when you get ready to sell this car I want to buy it...it's a deposit". Long story short he calls me a week later and asked if I was serious as he was looking at a new Shelby GT350......brought her home the next weekend.
As i have pretty much completed the mods i planned for this car (don't want to take it too far as the wife and I are going to go across country...one of these days) my goal was to make it a good track day car (which it is) and also a good cross country cruiser (which it still is). I have made it up to the Advanced/DE4 levels with the groups I run with but mostly run now in the Intermediate/DE2 groups as I am looking to enjoy the time on track along with the people.
Hope to see you all on track one of these days.....just be on the lookout for "gandads car".
