- Background & Plans
- In 2018, I bought the car used with around 26,000 miles. It was kind of wacked out with its mods at first. It was slammed on BC Racing coilovers, running Nitto summer tires that had no grip, and a bunch of the BMR goodies that I ended up keeping. It also had the same MBRP long tubes installed, but no mid pipes. Literally just two straight pipes from the headers to the tailpipe, and Borla "muffler" tips tack welded on there. The car ran and handled like junk, but I still fell in love with it! I had never owned a mustang GT, or anything like it, before this car!
Over the years, as things inevitably broke, I upgraded them and started to make the car slightly better and better. But it wasn't until 2020 when I began autocrossing when I really started finding the car's weaknesses and making a conscious effort to improve the car. It was a huge challenge to start autocross in a CAMC car, and especially one that was setup extremely poorly. But 100,000 miles and 70+ events later, things are definitely better than they were.
I'm still in love with this car, and plan to be buried in it! I have a set of CorteX Xtreme Grip DA Penskes that will hopefully be installed in late May of 2024 and a CAMC legal aluminum spoiler that I've been dragging my feet with installing. Other than that, my plans for the car would be a proper aero package (rear wing and front splitter), making an effort to upgrade rubber bushings to sphericals, seeing where I can shave more weight off, and above all else, squeezing as much seat time as possible!
