Just think if people who saw the EV as the solution would only realize they’re now the problem !!

Actually, we did live in that world. The electric car was available at the turn of the century. Not this last century, the one before. People saw it, bought it and stopped doing so because of its limitations. Sound Familiar?? The key to success with EVs is to eliminate the limitations. Can this be done.....this time??

EV's may be in our future, but things (limitations as TMS mentioned) need to be addressed first..........many more charging stations need to come onboard country wide for this to happen.Also EV battery maintenance and disposal need to be defined/refined. I'm not against progress as long as it's done right........BTW......I still got the Boss in the garage...

I don’t think that EV’s can be done right until state and federal get out of the game. Forced acceptance and regulation will do nothing but create a wasteful and inefficient product.

At the turn of the last century there was no law or regulation created that forced folks to sell their horses and mules and buy ICE machines. And, I would say that a very good product developed.

Entrepreneurship and ingenuity are only stifled by government control and regulation.

You'd think EV fanatics would go after factories and refineries for pollution as ruthlessly as they do regular consumers.
Perhaps they do and I'm just out of the loop.

Here's the thing, there is a place for EVs, but it's not what you would think. There is a place in Florida called the Villages, it is home to about 200K people and expands almost exponentially every 3 months to add about 10K ( or more) houses. It is master planned, meaning they have set aside places for stores, shop, gas station, fire houses, etc. They have also laid out the traffic flows, streets and bridges. Along with this, they have a massive secondary road network built for golf carts. You can literally go from one end to the other in a golf cart.
Every house has a charger and a path built in and almost all local travel is done that way.

EV's will be here one day.........I don't think the time line the"powers that be" have put into place can be met.............many more charging stations need to be addressed at the least.......I'm sure this will be resolved long after I'm gone............So I'll just enjoy my Boss in the meantime............AMEN..............BTW...what if I hit powerball next week??????????????

Actually there were quite a few rules and regulations when the automobile came out, we just were not around to observe them. Speed limits meant vehicles were severely limited initially and in most areas when they came out folks were required to have someone walk in front of a car so as not to spook horses , people and more.

History is so similar, generation to generation, with laws and regulations put on folks because humans do not like change. I was there kicking and screaming about catalytic converters when the came out but one trip to LA at that time and not being able to breathe or see made it apparent we needed to do something both for the smog , and getting the lead out - literally.

The analogy BS1 put down is funny , but as TMS noted Electric and Steam were around early in the build of the automobile. Change is often mandated by Governments and we will complain, yet for some reason we do not usually stop and realize the true reality we have as consumers. As we speak we are seeing a shift in Sales towards more hybrids instead of TVs, and of course ICE vehicles are still rocking. I love technology with automobiles and trucks and like in the past we may be pushed by Government pressures, but just like in the past we need to just stop and pause because as consumers we usually end up determining what will actually occur.

Stop and think of just a few decades past where we all thought we would be in tiny economy cars forever with fuel prices, then the Manufacturers went to work and trucks, minivans, and full size cars all equaled or bettered what a Honda Civic maybe got in 1977?

I am still optimistic that before I kick the bucket or so after there will be a Hybrid car with solar panels, regenerative electric power units and even more advanced Internal Combustion Engines that ranges of 700 -1000 miles will be attained.

I was lucky to get 9 mpg with my fast cars in the 60s and 70s and I came home at 75mph yesterday averaging 31.3 mpg in an almost 400 HP car. Companies will not do anymore than we do without being pushed , and yet the reality is that is what has gotten vehicles to the state they are today ---------- it is not just in the US but Worldwide, but I hope we continue to be the Leader in innovation.
