My wife wants the house as cold as the arctic so no problem here. Fortunately we have some of the absolutely lowest gas and electric prices in the Nation. I guess you could say you are a big " Fan" of your wife!

Looks like it really breaks Sat. night but tomorrow is brutal again. Just make sure you keep topped up on fluids & electrolytes. The fan's breeze cools you down when you sweat (evaporative cooling) but you don't realize you're sweating as much and can get dehydrated easily. In this weather, I round-robin sports drink, water, and juice or iced tea. A banana is also good for maintaining potassium levels.

Other tricks - basements and cool showers/baths.

The thermometer outside my kitchen window read 102 in the shade this afternoon..........tomorrow, more of the same. like Dave says, Sunday will offer a break from this unforgiving heat.

I feel for you my friend , drink plenty of fluids and keep us posted, that is really dangerous conditions you are enduring.

Day 3 heat wave update.............85 at wake up........another scorcher on tap. I figured out a way to cope with this "warmth" and it was right in front of me all the time!!!!!!!!!!! Ready for this?????????...............

We will see 85 today at the house and 86 tomorrow at the track in Joliet. Sun Screen, water and patients.

Is this where "they" got the name : Hot Wheels??

For some reason, I ended up with quite a diverse (some might call it eclectic) taste in music. I used to have a car with a 6-CD changer, and some of my friends would joke that they'd get headaches from the music changes. I might load it with King Oliver, Louis Jordan, Dick Dale, ELP, Thompson Twins, and Mazzy Star. And then I'd set it on shuffle.

In the spirit of Summer, imagine driving along and getting this combination back-to-back --
