I just swapped pads and noted that my (original!) piston boots are pretty much toast and assume the seals aren't far behind so I'd like to get it all changed out. OPMustang has seal kits so I thought I might replace them all myself, but have never done it before. I do note the photos on OPMustang show circlips on the rear set so I at least know that much is needed to change them out; but I cannot find instructions anywhere how to do it, or if it is a self-evident job once I start, or if there are any gotchas and tricks to know, etc. Usually there's a youtube video to watch for jobs like this but I couldn't find any.

Can anyone provide insight/advice or a link with DIY instructions?

Thanks as always!

Several years ago, I noticed I was getting beveled pad wear on my S550 Brembos. I assumed it was sticking seals, so I dove in and replaced them. I did find some tips online somewhere, but it is a medium-level job to use air to push out the pistons, replace the seals and re-install. Turns out I didn't need to do it, as I learned later from posts here that it was the same-size pistons causing the uneven wear, so waste of time! Also discovered that you can't easily find parts like this, as Ford intends for the entire caliper to be swapped out. The price was not bad, so I purchased a back-up set of calipers. I now reverse my pads often to keep the wear even. Perhaps incorrectly, but I don't worry about the dust boots much.

I have done the front brake seal replacement and was able to source them from OPmustang. The job is easy and there are videos online that show the process, maybe not specific mustang videos but brembo videos for sure. As for the dust shield I found that for a track only vehicle they get trashed due to heat in a few track days so I have just been running without them. For a car that is track only car that is kept in a trailer or inside a shop it does not seam to be an issue to not have the dust shields. I believe they keep trash off the piston and keep the piston from rusting where the rust would cause issues with the seal, so I am not suggesting to run without them for a street car.

^ This.

The problem is that the rubber is not Viton.

I talked to a s550 guy in the paddock about the rear calipers. We both experienced the dust boots tearing around the perimeter due to high heat. He had ESP for his car, and found that for the cost of the deductible, a pair of new calipers was as cheap/easy as trying to replace just the boots.

As for myself, I paid $$$ to swap over the GT350 brakes on my GT.
