Well i’d though i’d post up after 1200 miles and 3 solid weekends of track on my stock (except for dual catch can x pipe and brake cooling deflectors) Dark Horse HP car. The biggest performance trait seems to be the brakes. I can out brake almost everyone in the big boy groups. This is a big advantage im finding out as well as i pulled 1.5 g’s yesterday with the stock setup. Previous best was 1.38. I think this is pretty impressive stuff and after all this it still has some brake pad left. I hear they are ferrado pads but when i take them off i’ll know for sure hopefully. No temp issues in AZ engine trans or diff. Brakes are good no fade at all. This car is pretty good. I keep getting faster in it as i learn to trust the brakes and get on the gas earlier and get more comfortable in car. Had an instructor ride along and various drivers and they were amazed at the brakes and cornering. It does lose out on the straights to blown cars but overall it a top class ride makes me look like a hero and everyone impressed with the car. It’s gonna make me competitive in upper time trial groups with the lap times at my club. But i still need a real race car for race group. Overall pretty amazing car and can run with the porches

Interested to see what the gloc 16/12 compares on braking

Firebird west. You can see the speed limited magnaride off laps(i did not record first one) only 3-4 seconds off on this short track

6 track weekends and 1300 miles down to about 5-6 mm in front

No more track days. Driving on the street with track alignment lol. Bought a race car TA2 mustang body so that will be my primary track car. Just got my full SCCA competition license today. Game on. I will be taking my dark horse and TA2 car into the shop to get serviced and will let you know the brakes. I’m curious too. The TA2 car is bad ass and will be raced a bunch ;). Pads are adequate for street for time being

Game on, indeed!
Please keep us informed on your exploits, especially your thoughts on how a made-for-racing TA2 car compares to a production car-turned-track car like the Dark Horse. Driver feel, lap times, setup range, running costs (only if comfortable), etc.

Indeed! Well for one i can get pirelli scuffs for $100. That’s a win win right there. Just picking car up so once o get it going ill report back

Since the new race car has PFC race brakes in interested if anyone has used PFC pads? The “01” compound is supposed to be pretty legendary. I interested if they make sets for DH brakes

Will report back but first i’ll use my glocs.

And the answer is: They don’t make them lol
Not as many aftermarket options for the S650 as the S550 and earlier in a lot of areas, but brake pads is a noticeable one. I would go with Ferodo without hesitation, mainly for the ease of swapping from street pads to track pads and back to street pads, but Ferodo makes nothing for the S650.

Same for triple pass radiators from Kenny Brown Performance or Fluidyne, all models of Mustang S550 and earlier covered, but not the S650.

I am hoping that will change over time, but we already have three model years of S650s (24-26) driving around and tracking.

New things are coming out. E.g., rotors. Giro Disc makes a decent aftermarket option with a little less weight than the Dark Horse rotor and a lot less weight than the GT rotor.

I am sure all of these other things are in the works.

Car looks fantastic! I have a 2018 TA2 Cope Camaro, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. For those asking about the comparison between a converted street chassis vs one of these cars, to me there is no comparison. The feel, cost, speed, all much better than a converted chassis. Let alone parts cost and ease of maintenance. Take out 15 screws and half of the body comes off! My only complaint is that the Cope/Port City cars are pretty lightly built, the rear suspension brackets crack off the frame. This is mostly due to them being converted circle track designs where they don't run over the curbs...
