Back in June I purchased the Iso-Clutch Reservoir for my 09 Bullitt off of eBay from "shelbyauctions".

This past weekend, I went to install it and realized that there was no way this thing would fit. After doing some sleuthing, it turns out that the master cylinder and brake booster changed for 09, as did the mounting flange.

I contacted Shelby on this issue and initiated the return. The gentleman who answered was adamant that I was wrong, but the pictures don't lie here. Without further communication they accepted my return, which I am thankful for.

That said, I still would like to get one of these on my car. Has anyone tried the 10-14 on an 09? While the bracket is longer on the side at which it mounts to the master cylinder, I am concerned about the second mounting point interfering with the AC accumulator on my car.

Just for clarity, since there are no pictures attached to the original post, you received the version on the right of the below photo with the shorter bracket and it still did not fit correctly?


If that's the case, you could probably easily replicate the mounting solution with some Cardboard Aided Design, whether that be sheet metal you cut and fold yourself in a vise or bring into (the other) CAD and have a vendor like Send-Cut-Send cut and bend for you.

If you're not particularly chasing the Shelby Isoclutch aesthetic, there are plenty of other threads here about people adapting small GM reservoirs (92065790) for their clutch reservoir.

I used a corvette res on my fr500c

Several of us have used the same reservoir as TA28. Its cheap, easy and works.

The title of the link is misleading but it does contain the part number of the reservoir.

I ordered this one, but I haven't gotten around to trying to install it yet.

Thanks, and yes I don't know why/how I forgot to attach the photo. I purchased theater on the right thinking it would fit my 09, but it looks as though due to the MC differences, I actually may need the one on the left. My only concern was the left mounting leg and how that would jive with the accumulator.

I agree with the folks here that the GTO/Ranger/C5 reservoirs look like a workable idea but most photos are on a 11-14, which has a lot more room. The early cars are fairly cramped in that area:



I was thinking perhaps I can use the accumulator bolt or that hole further forward holding the vacuum line and make a bracket off of that. I'm by no means married to the Shelby part, it just seemed like a plug and play vs. an evening of trying to fab something. I guess that may not end up being the case here.

Wow, that definitely is a crowded spot on your model year. The accumulator bracket looks like it already uses the u-nut clip mounting provision the later Shelby version uses, so that would be a no-go. If you go with the smaller/GM ones, you could make a custom bracket and pick up a nut/bolt from somewhere. The first thing that comes to mind when looking at that picture is the shock stud with the yellow paint mark. You could add a metal tab under that to a 90 degree bracket with the two bolt connections (riv nuts, welded nuts, etc) for the reservoir.

I could only find one picture of the 2005-2009 version installed and I can only find instructions for the 2010-2014 version online (which isn't helpful), so not sure what the process is like to wedge that in there.

That was part of my problem. They don’t have instructions for the 05-09 cars. I was unsure whether the bracket sat atop of the accumulator or below. The gentleman at Shelby assured me install was the same.

Thus ended up being a moot point considering the differences between the MCs, because it didn’t fit anyway. When I initiated the return, we had some back and forth over it. He implied that I didn’t know what I was doing and to “call the shop.” I provided photographs and asked for their phone number. A day later he sent me a return label.

I’m a bit disappointed because this is a nice piece and would save me quite a bit of time. I may roll the dice with the 2010+ and see what happens.

Worst case, I agree I’ll bust out the rivnut tool.

There is enough room for the gm version. Its looks like it belongs here. Here is my 2006

Yes, I did. I don't know if the stock hose would reach or not. I never tried, but probably not. I replaced the clutch, throwout bearing, clutch master, reservoir and hose all at the same time.
