5 races since the 2 in middle east are kind of gone now ! Also it's not only Mercedes engine, Honda and Red Bull are also in the same boat. Ferrari for me looks like the favourites but I kind of want to see a few more races before confidently claim that.

They might scramble and put some replacement races in those middle east spots, we'll see. And you're right, that puts Ferrari in a good position, assuming the advantage is noticeable. I think Ferrari can still find a way to screw themselves with their strategy calls.

That'd be far better than them doubling up at other venues, as I saw reported as an option.

Well, people keep saying they want to go back to the good old days of F1. The final standings was like a race from the 60's -- one team winning, the next team 15+ seconds back, the season champions of the past few years nearly a minute off the lead, the next 1/3 of the field one lap down, the last handful of running cars 2 or 3 laps down, and the back 1/3 of the field retired or nearly so.

At least nobody died like they often did in the 60's.

That is pretty interesting. It's funny that many of us want some of the elements of the old days - the big engine sounds, the raw performance, the purity of the racing - but at the same time, we don't want it to be a foregone conclusion who's going to win the championship a few races into the season. It's boring when one team and/or driver dominates for a long period, at least, when it's not your favorite team/driver. We want it to be entertaining and interesting, which is what brings about the gimmicks they're using (well, maybe not the electrification gimmicks). We want our cake and we want to eat it too.
