Hi everybody! First time poster - need some input from the hive mind.

I am headed to watkins glen next week for SCDA in my 2021 mach 1 (NON handling pack - but I do have wider RTR rims with 275s on the front and 295s on the rear.) Tires are continental extreme contact sport 02s.

I already had the brake fluid swapped for high temp, and Im going to be putting a set of g-loc pads on the front along with new OEM rotors as well.

My original order of pre-bedded R12s seemed to get lost in shipping, so I overnighted a set of non pre-bed R10s (which is what Steeda recommended after I talked with them to order a replacement set). Well - both orders actually showed up today, so I have the option of running the R10s (which need to be bedded) or the R12s which are already pre-bedded.

I do have some prior racing experience back in my younger days on both dirt/asphalt oval track and some lesseer experience running some supercar road course "experiences". So Im pretty comfortable on the traco, but this will only be my 2nd HPDE day. Also, watkins glen is a whole different level compared to anything Ive done before.

Just wondering what the group thinks as far as running the R10s vs the pre bedded R12s. Steedas concern was that the R12s can be a little difficult to modulate and can possibly overwhelm the fromt tires when theyre justba street tire.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks everyone!

I Love the Gloc pads for the price vs performance. But my love goes for the Gloc 16 and 18. I found the Gloc 12 pads last very little when driven hard at the track. Don't have any problems modulating the R18's on the street or track, with either 275/35-19 rim savers or wider slicks.

You can run the 12s and then the 10s. You shouldn't need to bed the 10s since the material from the 12s is very similar. I believe that's what Danny at GLoc was telling me.

When I ran GLoc i swapped my track 12/10 combo to street GS-1 all the time. No bedding or scuffing required.

That's actually a good idea I hadn't thought of. I was planning on bringing both sets anyway!

I would run the R12s and run the 10s in the back, but in the future only order pre-bedded G-Locs. I was a small Dealer for them years back and according the Danny I had one of the first set of R18s sold to the General Public. Like Madhatter I like the 18s with 10s or 12s in the rear, but always pre-bedded. In the future I would recommend getting in touch with Tim at OPMustang ( on this site ) as he sells a ton and he gets all of them pre-bedded.

Please no offense Byron, but the actual bedding process is a nightmare and even Danny recommends getting them pre-bedded. You definitely don't want to be doing the bedding while at the track getting ready for a race or time trial , which seems to always be the case ( I needed to switch pads too often at inopportune times.)
