August 2024
Update.
Well. I'm officially behind with this write up.
I guess..life.
Let's get through some of the topics. I'm sure I will forget something but bare with me.
I will divide the post in TOPICS
ENGINE
the strong collaboration with OZTUNING continues. Im so lucky and grateful Ken Osborne decided to help an italian guy. I appreciate you.
I JUST Installed INTAKE CAMS. L&M.
Went from 480whp to 496whp. And better usable curve.
This was done also with a resonator(hpipe) in the way so we expect might be even higher.
But the results on track speak. The car is 3mph faster on the straight of sonoma and Laguna. Car has also 350mani JLT and e85
SUSPENSIONS
lots of changes here. During my service we found the front JRi were completely broken.
so together with cortex we decided to move to a Penske double adjustment.
The rear however are still JRi
Took me 2 or 3 events to get a better feeling on them. I feel we are going in the right direction but the rear still tends to snap on me during hard braking. Getting there. But not there yet.
TRANSMISSION
I could write a book on my 10speed.
temperatures are under control with the SPEEDITALIA THERMOSTAT BYPASS and my bigger cooler but the transmission keeps going down. The issue is : I'm reaching forces (lateral G) and speeds I think beyond this transmission. I can touch multiple times 2 G. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID STARVED. And I think this contributed to create the latest slipping issue.
If I slow down 2 second this transmission can last an entire endurance race.
I will install a new one in these days including extra clutches ( a mod from SUNCOAST perf) and the bypass.
Also an oem shape filter. (I also run after market alluminium pan)
We will see. Cause ai would need to send it at NATIONALS FOR NASA in sept. (No chance to test it before)
CHASSIS and INTERIOR
Well I wanted to fit 335mm tires all around and I got an ANDERSON COMPOSITE FENDER KIT to fit them. Thanks TERRY FAIR FOR THE HELP!
I installed the MMR 10speed kit for after market steering wheel. Now the car feels more... racecar! Thank you so much guys for the opportunity to be your tester.
And we'll not chassis but... I wrapped the carstill not finished yet. But getting there
TIRES AND WHEELS
I went with a 335 mm A7 choice.
On a 18x12 APEX RIM. to fit under the huge fenders I needed huge spacers. 48mm front and 40mm back.
AERO
still running my speeditalia front splitter with the fast release system
I'm using still AJ HARTMAN FRONT TUNNELS/ CANARDS/ SIDE PLATES
In the rear I'm still using AJ HARTMAN FULCRUM 14 and his diffuser (connected with a fast release System (5sec installation)
What's next
well prepping for nationals (UTAH MOTORSPORT 5-8 SEPT 2024)
FINGERS CROSSED FOR ME. PLEASE.
Need to change front hubs (for longer studs)
And a failing rear left hub.
Will install SPC camber arms.
Need a new allignment and corner balance.
And last. I did some flat floor templates. Is a long process without a bridge at home so bare with me.
I think this covers everything.
Oh this year.
I ran willow
Springs (1.21)
sonoma sub 40 (at 39.1)
And Laguna at 1:30.6. I drove like shiznit. And conservative (broken trans and zero aggressive to corners to preserve the system)
After Utah I want to go back to thill and buttonwillow.
Keep you posted family!
Alessandro
The catback is what gives the HP not the headers by the way.So the car as it sits now is making 510RWHP SAE rated with the cams through an auto and you have:
L&M intake cams
JLT
Ported gt350 intake
Light weight driveshaft (maybe a couple hp)
Long tube headers
Some form of 3” cat back and resonator delete
E85 tune
Seems like with a manual this would be around 530-540Hp Std on a dynojet which is pretty incredible.
I need to buy a mach 1
Is Oztuning a remote tuner or do you work with him onsite? I'm looking for a good tuner and it sure seems like there's a shortage of them! I couldn't seem to find an answer on Google. Thanks Ale!The catback is what gives the HP not the headers by the way.
12 15 whp.
When we added headers was just torque.
Not peak hp.
The tuner is the key. Oztuning is the best for us road racers.
Strongly strongly suggest. Many of us use them!

I always found this curious in your case. We found that the headers always gives us a consistent power gain of around 25hp in all the coyotes. The shop I use must have done about 20 cars. Most of them gen 3's with 3" custom exhaust, CAI, headers and E85 (no cats), puts the Gen3 cars consistently at between 495 and 505 rwhp. The catback is what gives the HP not the headers by the way.

I think is basically the same concept. With headers you expand gasses right away more than oem. With cat back you do that 3 ft after.I always found this curious in your case. Super charged engines are much less sensitive to exhaust as long as there is sufficient flow. You are basically blowing the exhaust out with boost. When it is most critical is with N/A builds where scavenging is used to help pull the spent gasses out. Sizing the primaries correctly and proper collector design is key. Bigger is better doesn’t necessarily apply here.I never know what to think of YT content creators as far as technical merit, but this guy says they found no difference in a supercharged engine-
Palm Beach Dyno says they’re worth about 2% on a supercharged combo with high mass flow-
So- not a huge improvement by any measure.
Think of it as a Venturi. The best scavenging exhaust collectors taper down quite a bit right before the merge. It’s kind of a cool theory that the compression of the gas at the merge followed by a rapid expansion allows improved scavenging
Pete, another idea would be for you to start a thread to get feedback and just tag @flyhalf and ask him to chime in publicly. This would be preferred because, though some like to discuss things privately, it helps the community when tech advice is discussed publicly. Others in your situation can benefit from a lot of that same advice. It also helps you add to your initial post count so the community gets to know you - which is key for a community like this. Private messages have their place for sensitive conversations, but using them for tech advice does a disservice to the rest of the community. We actually want new members discussing things publicly.Hi FlyHalf
Ive been reading your great build thread(and others) with much interest and tried to send you a PM but unfortunately im a rookie and are not allowed to send messages if not initiated by a senior member!
Im building Mustang versatile track car over in Europe and would be very happy to get a little of your input if you have time.
Could you please send me a PM/message so I don't have to mess up your nice build thread!
thanks!!
Regards Pete

You have a lot of great experience that Ive been impressed by, but ok Ill create a build thread of my own!! ;-)I'm good but not that good lol
