Re: Lap Time Thread2

Ok after 2 years Racing with Nasa Florida in the TT3 class I got my first podium. Took first place and set the track record in TT3 at Daytona. I guess if you work at it long enough it will happen. But Daytona that's something else. Can't figure out how to post pictures or the final page of TT to show everyone just how fast I went compared to the other classes. I even beat a couple unlimited cars which had a couple Transam cars and a Daytona prototype in its class. The mustang transam car ran a 1:45 and hit 200mph down the front straight.Once I figure out the picture stuff I'll post. Any help would be great. Oh no videos of last month but have one running hard last year. My lap times 2 :07.948 top speed 167mph avg. 107.89. Not bad for the only street car there.
Thanks

Are you running 3.55's? I'm topping out 5th gear at mid 140's, trying to decide what route to go to get some more speed in each gear as I get the car better prepped for track driving... nice driving though!

I'm running the stock gears with 275/40/18 Nitto NT1s. About 26 and a half inches tall. Rpms 7800 to 8000 in 5th. Took off the cats and replaced the ECM with one loaded with the factory Boss S tune. 410 at the wheels 3742 with me in it and full tank of gas. Lowered the car shocks and sway bars all Ford stuff. Hawk DTC70s up font and HT10s out back. Stock drive shaft MGW shifter pulled the clutch spring and still need to shift at 6500 or below which dosen,t matter at Daytona. Still down 30RWHP for TT3 class I'm running. Hard to find that much hp without getting into the engine. the 3.55 would work great at Daytona but would kill the car at Sebring which really needs a 4.11 for that Track. Good Luck with your setup most anything works good on the Boss this is what works for me.

Congrats! You were moving out there!

If you haven't yet you need to ditch the stock clutch and go aftermarket. The stock clutch is not up to the task.

VIR 11/22-23 Full Course new personal best 2:12.90. Continental 305/650-18 square. 150.4 mph on the back straight, not on my fast lap though.
Great weekend, there were at least 12 Bosses in attendance, weather was good and we had 2 nice dinners. I am currently in Martinsville VA on the way to Stuart to bring the 21 car to its ancestral home, the Wood Brothers Racing shop and museum. I will probably have a new signature photo tomorrow!

It was great seeing you guys again and meeting new BMO members!

I didn't time myself on Saturday, since it was mostly me trying to learn and get familiarized with the track. Also, I didn't get to start the timer on the dry session on Sunday, because I was a little late to the grid. But the later sessions I did record, my best time was 2:25.58 with a little rain and mist.

Now I can't stop thinking about VIR, what a great track. It's alot forgiving than Summit Point... I should know, because I went off twice on Sunday and mowed the lawn with my trans cooling scoop :p

Are you saying if I change the clutch it will shift at 7800rpm ????
Yes

Just getting back from Daytona a 3 day event put on by the Audi Club Of Ohio. I was the Bus driver all weekend and also instructed 3 first time Mustang guys. Bus driver means giving rides to everyone in my Boss. Have yet to post anything but my friend Robert Miller posted videos of his 2014 Shelby GT500. The day was really over cast and all the GPS signals were coming and going but you can see how fast its going. Lap times are really close. Running 56 seconds around the Oval and 2.17 or the road course isn't to bad for his first time. I drove the Oval it was by invitation only, about 10 cars. I lapped the field once after 6 laps. Then ran out of gas. Burned a gallon a lap. Hope you guys enjoy it. I know I did.

I run McLeod RST twin disc. Shifts at 7700 with no issues. There are a few other high quality clutches sold by the usual vendors, Exedy, Ram etc. Some say single disc, I like twin disc. Some say aluminum flywheel I prefer SFI approved steel. One thing for certain, stock Ford clutches are not up to high rpm road race duty. Multiple members have proven this, (some multiple times ::)) and the answer is a quality aftermarket race clutch.

Thanks Steve for the input going to retire my Boss and wait on the Shelby GT 350R. Will have a friend install a better clutch as his gave up at Daytona last Weekend.

Scott Maxwell Scores CTSC Pole in BOSS 302R at Daytona

0Dagys_-2015_352161.jpg

http://sportscar365.com/imsa/ctscc/maxwell-piscitell-score-ctsc-poles-at-daytona/

Scott Maxwell (GS) and Justin Piscitell (ST) have scored the pole positions for the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season-opening BMW Performance 200 at Daytona International Speedway.

Interestingly, both Multimatic Motorsports and Murillo Racing scored the 2014 poles at Daytona as well.

Maxwell banked a 1:56.520 in the No. 15 Multimatic Ford Mustang Boss 302R. Jade Buford set the pole a year ago at 1:55.824; Buford will now be in the sister No. 158 this year with new co-driver Austin Cindric.

The pole is Maxwell’s ninth in his CTSC career.

“Billy and I focused on race setup on old tires most of the weekend,” Maxwell said. “We didn’t know how it would be on stickers. But I was confident enough it would be strong. We didn’t take advantage of the draft.”

Hugh Plumb took the No. 13 Rum Bum Racing Porsche 911 into second at 1:56.779, with Andrew Davis third in the No. 6 Stevenson Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R at 1:56.941.

Cindric qualified fourth, with Matt Bell fifth in the second Stevenson entry, the No. 9 Camaro Z/28.R.

Ashley Freiberg, who co-drove to victory in 2014 with Shelby Blackstock, lines up sixth in the No. 46 Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3 she’ll share with defending GS class champion Trent Hindman.

Murillo Racing scored its second straight Daytona ST pole, albeit with a different driver and different car than it did a year ago.

Piscitell, in the team’s No. 56 Porsche Cayman, set the fastest time of the session at a 2:05.454 to score his first career pole. The time is down a bit from Jeff Mosing’s 2:04.769 set last year in the team’s BMW 328i. Piscitell co-drives with defending class champion Eric Foss.

“We’re sad Jeff Mosing isn’t here with us (this weekend),” Piscitell said. “I believe his wife is due the moment the race starts. So I’m fortunate to fill in.

“I have to thank Continental Tire; we threw a set of stickers on and the grip levels went up so much. I got a huge tow out there, and for the ST guys it could be worth quite a few tenths on the straight.”

Jason Briedis upheld BMW’s honor as the lone non-Cayman in the top five. He took the No. 84 Bimmerworld 328i to second at 2:05.462, just 0.004 of a second off Piscitell’s pace.

The Rennsport One teammates of Jon Miller and Luis Rodriguez took the Nos. 18 and 17 Caymans into third and fourth, with Jeff Segal fifth in the No. 42 Team Sahlen Porsche Cayman.

Friday’s season-opening, two-hour and 30-minute BMW Performance 200 will go green at 1:45 p.m. ET and local time. It will be streamed via IMSA.TV, per IMSA.

My best lap at VIR Winterfest: 2:13.48 on Nitto NT01's:

Still need to adjust the AIM Smartycam view angle to get a better view of track. Also there must be a config issue as the GPS location isn't showing up on the track map insert.....

Interesting, top speed at 147.2 is up 3 mph from my first visit last fall -- I'm sure the AIM shift lights are helping :)

Nick

Nice video! You were really fast out there, nice to meet you.

Here is my best time. I'm slow at 2:19 LOL

my best for the VIR Winterfest weekend was 2.14:05. Disappointing showing with the new MM/JRi coil over suspension. Previous PB of 2.12:89 still stands for now but I think the track was a little slower than in November and my tires were just about heat cycled out. I did experiment with lighter rate (350 vs. 375) rear springs and the car felt better off the corners. With the harness misfire issues it just wasn't a good weekend for the 21. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
