Well, the wedding anniversary came and went last Friday... still no parts delivered... so maybe by Halloween? I could dress up as some old car guy for Halloween if you guys think it would help... lol
It is beginning to get depressing... just got off the phone with the machine shop... still waiting on parts... his shop is filling up with motors done except for parts.. you could hear it in his voice he was in a tough spot.. hoping for some time in March last time he got any info... ugh... crate motor may have been the way to go.. too late now...
I sure hope you are correct... the orders were placed last July... was to be done in September or October... back on the road in spring is not gunna happen at this point... like I said.. it's getting depressing..
well.. the motor is assembled and now resides in the corner of my friend's race shop awaiting "my turn"... need to get his car track ready first.. then drag my 1967 carcass over to do the transplant... sometime this summer it should make noise on it own... finally progress.. with a short pause..
well I spent yesterday getting buddies car ready for his motor swap... he was still planning on pulling it out solo after my back gave out... may get his new motor back in next weekend? sooo close...
oh, made sure my old carb worked before we tore his motor down.. idled high, but had great throttle response once we got the leaking bowl fixed.. hooray
well... got my buddies new motor broke in at the track yesterday.. today my car got dragged onto his trailer and over to his shop...
my garage looks funny..
well.. last night we finally unloaded the trailer... washed off 20 years of dust... put it in the shop and pulled off the hood... it now waits a bit to yank old engine and figure out what is needed on the parts list to accomplish the install.. besides the obvious radiator upgrade...
minor update.. had the machine shop work his magic on the 28oz flywheel turning into a zero balance and tuned it to the clutch.. next step mating new motor to old transmission and hoisting it back in... oh and I ordered the new radiator & electric fan shroud setup...
Well tonight was crud scraping night... my back is pretty sore.. in fact it is 3:00am and I can't sleep.. so I post while waiting for meds to kick in.. tried on some wheels to check backspace... 15x6.5 fit, but look tiny... 18x9.5 too big, don't fit... but 17x8 look pretty nice and fit well with 1 inch spacers... needed because of short Lincoln Versailles 9 inch rear axle.. 1990's tech..
The next step is pull the heater stuff and spray paint the engine bay...
baby steps today... final clean.. then primed... paint engine bay tomorrow... drained gas tank.. need to order new sending unit... pulled blower motor h heater core.. don't need those anymore.. maybe, just maybe get the motor & transmission back together next week and wait for parts order to show up then the party begins..
well.. it got painted today and decided to put the headers on and figure out if the motor fits... just a test run..
it fits mostly... will need to clip about an 1/8 of an inch off drivers side header flange to clear steering box... not too shabby... ordered another batch of parts to wait for.. motor looks good in its future home.
well got a little bit more done yesterday, put the motor & transmission together.. today & tomorrow will be search & buy parts to finish the next part.. it never ends.. lol
