Are you sure the whine is coming from the rear end? My 2011 always had a little whine that I assumed was the rear end. When I swapped out the MT82 it went away. It was the transmission all those years.

The 3.73 are known to make more noise than the other ratios.

It's the exact whine, just 80% less audible.

I've read about the issues with the MT-80 and resultant class-action lawsuit against Ford. Dang.
