What does the Blend and Commit numbers mean?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Mustangs are not built in VIN order. The commit number is the actual true-blue sequence that it traveled down the line at the factory. It is a 4 digit number that turns over when it reaches it highest point. Because it is a four digit number, more than one Mustang can have the same commit number, so you have to use the commit number with the build date to get the actual sequence of Mustang builds.
