To be clear, there is a PCV on the hose that goes to the intake manifold (suction side) and the other side that goes to the breather tank is open and can breathe both ways.

IMO find one of the Ford Performance kits, install it, and enjoy. Decent coilovers will run north of $5K, the ones on the S197s are Penskes at over $10K. The disadvantage far outweigh the advantages in maintenance alone, plus with a FP suspension...

An even better play would be to swap the full Dark Horse R brake system onto a GT500 and run 18" wheels and tires. Expensive but would save a TON of weight. And weight is the enemy of the 500. Front end weight savings would be on the order of 125...
