2026 Muscle on the Mountain Recap:
I got back from Ocracoke Island transferred most of my stuff over to the race trailer, then left for PA the next morning at 8am. The drive was nice other than my truck is still going into limp mode under heavy... (see full post)
that 100% looks like a bad rear pinion seal to me. I had a similar issue. My guess is some oil is able to pool on the bottom of the diff and gets flung forward toward the spinning pinion under braking....and that's what is throwing it every where (see full post)
So I was looking under the car after a track day at Sebring and I noticed this oil\grease on top of the exhaust and on the underside of the car. It is behind the boot on the driveshaft and well in front of the differential. It seems to have be...
Does your Dark Horse have the Handling Package? I’m guessing it does and you’re hearing the electric pump for the differential cooling system. (see full post)
I’ve started doing more track days and I’ve noticed something consistent after sessions:After coming off track, I hear a continuous whirring/whining noise from the rear of the car. No vibration, no grinding, just a clean whine that goes away...
I ran lockouts in 2021 - car lost a lot of low end power and torque - like 75hp. but the power band was super fun on the road course. Not super fast, tho.FWIW - I run the L&M Engine cams and we didn't see any issues with VCT under any... (see full post)
Is anyone out there using Comp Cam phaser limiter or lockout blocks on their dual-duty street/track car? In the process of planning and doing a rebuild and just curious of everyone's direction. Comp stage 2 SPR likely going in.
Thanks everyone.
I was annoyed with the stock slip n slide leather seats. So I bought a used set of 2012 Boss seats from a member here. Awesome. Not a true race seat but huge improvement and perfect for this in between-er type of car that I wanted to keep very... (see full post)
Along the way I got greedy with really sticky 305’s on track so eventually I picked up another set of LMR SVE wheels and built a little trailer to haul them along behind the car.I like that 305’s stack up as high as our S197s lol. Compared... (see full post)
The rear axle gradually got upgraded as things wore out. I was burning through axle seals so I installed the GT500 caliper brackets and rotors. Replaced the LCAs with maximum Motorsport parts, and eventually wound up removing the entire axle and... (see full post)
I did a few events with just the new wheels and tires. I tried some good track pads on the stock GT brakes but that wasn’t nearly good enough. And the suspension was soooo soft. So I swapped in the usual Boss brembo setup together with what... (see full post)
I went to my first track day, a Track Night event at Palmer in MA, with the car totally stock and it was frankly kind of terrifying. It didn’t help that crazy tstorms were rolling through. Car was swimming around both literally and figuratively... (see full post)
I was just starting to get interested in track driving but the Mustang was always going to be a daily too and it got used as such. So any track mods had to be street friendly. (see full post)
it was my first Mustang and my first rwd car with a stick and real power. It replaced my old Saab Viggen, which I also loved. So the Mustang was a big change for me, very different type of car obviously. (see full post)
So after years and years of hanging out here and learning a ton, I’m finally doing a profile and build thread. Calling my car a “build” is a little optimistic, as I haven’t really done very much. And I don’t tend to take many pictures. But I’ll... (see full post)
In the interest of not jumping to any conclusions, does this only occur on one side?
If so, is that shock absorber functioning properly?
Any spring can reach coil bind with enough force. This being a stock style variable diameter and relatively... (see full post)
